Schumachers biggest error in his career was parking it in Monaco 2006. I previously counted Jerez as well, but it seemed to have been a genuine mistake on his part rather than intentional. As Ross Brawn and others testified, Schumacher was seething when he came into the pit, saying that Villeneuve crashed into him. Whilst Villeneuve did lunge, I think Michael simply didn't check his mirrors and not expected him there. His fault but unintentional. I never understood the fuss with Barrichello and Hungary. Yes Schumacher squeezed him, but left the room between the car and the wall. Barrichello drove into the gap that existed and continued to exist. It's not different from an overtaking move in Monaco, you're going to be between a wall and a car.
I hated the way Schumacher used to drive his car to opponents in an attempt to intimidate them. That's not what one expect from a driver of his talent. He did it many times at the start of races, by cutting in front of the nearest car on the grid. I always wished the driver affected would have keep his line and his foot down and not avoided contact. Maybe then Schumacher and the FIA would have understood that it was against the rules to swerve.
Schumacher never complained when the same was done to him. It's not illegal to cut in front of the car at the start. It's not illegal to make a single defense move on a straight. Weaving is illegal, but Michael, to my memory, didn't do that. Being aggressive is not illegal and he was allowed to defend his line.
Schumacher didn't always wait to be ahead to cut, he often drove towards the car next to him, forcing the driver to yield.
He never crashed, but forced the other guy to lift to avoid contact. Unfortunately no one responded in kind and refused to move: self preservation probably? I always wished for someone to take the challenge, but it never came: they all bowed down to the Kaiser.
Once again Hamilton proving to haters that he is a EXCELLENT F1 driver! Amazing recovery in a okish car! Image Unavailable, Please Login
To be fair he had a great drive after lap 1 and was faster than his teammate. Good drive by Alonso as well Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
One race doesn't make him an "excellent" F1 driver. Word of the day: consistency........of which Russel has been.after 6 races. That's excellence of an F1 driver.
And 6 races doesn't make Russell very good. Hamilton won 7 tittles. Many fights during all those years.
Hamilton P19(+30secs to P18) to P4/5 and damaged diffuser. Russell P4 to P3. Take off your hate glasses and do the math!
Russell is out driving this so called 7x WDC title holder for 2022. Those 6 titles with Mercedes were with the fastest car on the grid with rules and regulations that gave Mercedes their dominance....from 2014 thru 2020. 2022, with different rules and regulations plus a budget cap, Lewis is no where next to his team-mate.
Yes, today's performance was remarkable for Hamilton, but on average his form has been off colour since the start of the season.
+1. 14, 15, 16, 19 and 20, literally anyone on the grid would have won the title in the Mercedes. 17, 18, any top 6 driver. Lewis' pace on paper looked impressive today but first of all he put himself in the situation to begin with, and he was lapping in clear air most of the time. Russell was defending for a lot of the time. That tends to change matters quite a lot. So far Lewis has had a very unimpressive season. After lap 1 a good race but lets not claim his racepace was fantastic because we're comparing apples and oranges here.
You make it look like Hamilton is driving like a Latifi. If you watched all races and qualifying you know the numbers don't tell the whole story. Russell was lucky with two Safety Cars and Hamilton wasn't. The team tried a diferent setup in Hamilton's car in Saudi Arabia and it was a mistake. The car was slower and more unstable than Russell's. Hamilton has been faster in half qualifying sessions and races. Yesterday, Kmag ran into Hamilton which resulted in a flat tire and P19, etc. Don't let your envy of Hamilton's success cloud your judgement!
Russell called one of the safety cars(MiamiGP???). His pit crew asked him about his tires and if he should come in. Russell responded and told his crew to wait for a safety car. Russell gambled it and called it. It worked for him due to his strategy call. Who cares about qualifying. That doesn't get you points. Being in the race with 20 other mindsets and crossing the finish line with points COUNTS.
