Absolutely agree on this. Bar financial reasons I can’t see why drivers and teams are agreeing on long terms contract. Could be a big problem for Max for instance..
Just uau! His drive at Monaco 2019 reminded me of Gilles, I really like him as a driver, My favourite one after Gilles and Alesi!
I saw Gilles at the USGP in Long Beach and Alesi in Phoenix, Monaco, and Paul Ricard in France. Great drivers.
Yap, Ronnie was together with the other 2 amongst the most exciting drivers ever. He almost drove for Ferrari, when Lauda ahd hid accident, in 76 he was going to be his replacement, Danielle Audetto contacted him and arranjed a test, but when Niki knew about it he was furious, he talked to Ferrari and sabotaged the whole deal...he didn't like Ronnie...maybe he knew how fast he was, from their time together at BRM, and prefered Reutman...who he didn't like anyway! Danielle tried to persuade Ferrari to keep Ronne, but the old man just screamed at him saying he was the boss and he decided!
Ronnie and Gilles were the great natural talents of their eras. Niki was a three times WDC. Let’s hope Charles takes a little magic from both camps.
Max has a ton of exit clauses if the car is not up to par with the leaders. This was also officially confirmed by Marko. Similar to the clause vettel triggered to go to Ferrari. I see Charles as a potential Ferrari for life guy, I don’t thinks he’d leave after one or two bad years as long as there’s light at the end of the tunnel. He probably wants a bump in salary, he’s making half of what Alonso and Norris are getting. Only 1/4 of Lewis and Max and still less than Danny Ric and Vettel. If I were his agent I’d also ask for a bump especially after rumors of a salary cap for Drivers.
I wonder about Max and his exit clauses. Say, RB mechanical issues continue? Say, Merc can’t get the chassis right and can’t scam the FIA into allowing an upgrade to the engine. Say, Ferrari win the WCC and are delighted with their driver line up. Where is Max going to go? As for Chuck, I agree, if we give him the car to win titles I can’t see him going anywhere.
Only 3 teams propose title winning cars: Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes. I don't count Alpine. All the others are customer teams, not in a position to win WDC or WCC, IMO. That restricts terribly the number of enviable seats if Verstappen decides to move.
Both of the Red car guys can shoe. As far as F1 goes, if Ferrari can bring a car to the race and be in the fight, IDK why a driver would leave Ferrari. The brand is amazing and I dont see much up side to Mec or Mc. Both great brands, but FERRARI!
Poor Charles. It's too bad Niki isn't around to greet him with a wonderfully sarcastic: "Why the **** did you destroy my car?"
I hope he will be rewarded for his loyalty. That also contradicts the saying that "Every driver wants to drive for Ferrari".
He'll be 31 when his current contract ends. He'll have some time to go yet. I hope he ends up at Ferrari at some point.
