Lewis had a good race. Glad his team talked him into staying in instead of parking his car to save the engine.
You do understand that for the vast majority of the race neither P1 nor RUS were optimizing for lap times, right? Lewis came in 5th in the 3rd fastest car on the grid, with one of the faster cars retiring. BFD.
Uh, Lewis is not the "so called" 7 time WDC...he IS a 7 time WDC...Really, you can even look it up on the very same internet you used to post this.
Well, this 7x WDC is certainly having and driving a championship 2022 year .....no??? Compare Lewis's AMAZING "skill and talent" of a 7x WDC title holder for 2022 to his team-mate.
You have to admit that each year is different, and that past success never warrant future success. Look in the direction of Alonso or Vettel for confirmation. The 2022 Mercedes is not top notch, and Russell extracts more of it, so far. For a driver who has been in F1 for the last 15 years, Hamilton isn't completely washed out, although I would admit that his motivation probably doesn't match Russell's.
Dang-it William, you stole my thunder. Yes, agreed on all points. I was trying to extract that information from jimmyb.
I was simply responding to your childish and ridiculous "so called 7x WDC" comment. Is George outdriving Lewis in the same car this year? Results say yes. Did Lewis outdrive Vallteri many years over? Results say yes. Did Michael outdrive Reubens many years over? Results say yes.
And why is that???( George outdrivibg Lewis in the same car). Isn't Lewis supposed to have "amazing skills and talent" after winning 6 WDC titles under the 2014 thru 2020 era of F1 that surely these outstanding characteristics should transfer into 2022???
That's the point, though. Button outscored him over a 3 year stint. Rosberg beat him for a WDC. And, now George is comprehensively outdriving him after jumping in the car last-minute when Lewis was out with COVID and being in a position to win the race. The facts are the facts, and none of those guys is particularly special when it comes to F1 caliber drivers. George's potential, of course, remains to be seen. For nearly his entire career his car was such that he really only needed to beat his designated #2 driver, and he can't even be relied upon to do that. He's a good, consistent driver when 20 seconds ahead of the field or when DRSing his way through cars that are 2s/lap slower. He's very good in the rain but not good at all in traffic. It is what it is.
^^^ Formula 1, just like every other sport, is a "results" based endeavor. How many WDC's does Jensen Button have? Taking cumulative points totals of 3 years to attempt to make a point is silly. That's NOT how it works (you, of course, know that but choose to ignore it) How many WDC's does Rosberg have? You guys can twist this a thousand different ways, in the end, Hamilton is a 7 time WDC. You make your own luck. If Button outscored Lewis 3 years in total and doesn't have 3 WDC's to show for it, who's fault is that? I guess they should only crown a WDC every 3 years so your point will be correct... It's no different from saying Stockton and Malone were more dominant than Jordan/Pippen. Maybe so...but who has 6 NBA world titles and who doesn't? PS. Fact: Lewis is a 7 time WDC.
Lewis got lucky signing with Mercedes in 2014. The rules and regulations, a new turbo-hybrid formula(Mercedes worked on it since 2007), and a token system(2014 thru 2016 that hampered development to the competition) solidified Mercedes dominance for 7 years straight. Now for 2022, there's parity amongst the top 3 teams given the rules and regulations PLUS a budget cap. Lewis doesn't appear currently that his "AMAZING" skills and talents are on par with his team-mate....as we were led to believe by the media and commentators.
I have already cornered that guy with his twisted claim. He had no answer. He comes on FChat only to slagg off ... Over the 3 years they were team mates at McLaren, Hamilton won 10 GPs and 20 podiums, against 7 GPs and 15 podiums for Button. Button outscored Hamilton only ONE of the 3 years (2011) scoring 270 pts against 227 for Lewis. But some would like you to believe that Hamilton "got beat" by all his team mates. In fact, any champion is beaten if you restrict the stats to the less favourable sample, instead of broadening the range.
That he is im not sure why the mods let it happen but it’s what it is Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No, Valtteri is a #2 driver. His job is to cover Lewis's behind from any threats AND at times on different tire strategies. Btw, Nico Rosberg admitted a few races ago that he had to sign a contract not to crash into Lewis when Nico was with Mercedes and Lewis.
I'm talking about 2022. We're under a different formula with a budget cap and FINALLY some parity amongst the top 3 teams. Lewis, currently and against his team-mate, is a good driver with 7 WDC titles. Unfortunately, I currently don't see the "excellence" in Lewis in 2022. I see more excellence in Russell than in Lewis.
