There’s a very interesting effect coming to light as a result of this latest massacre - over in PnR there are several discussions/accusations that police didn’t act sufficiently against the shooter.
I have no idea whether that’s true or not, but the point is it seems that it’s almost a standoff situation these days - since EVERY nutter seems to have access to an arsenal, the police have no advantage over them. This ties in with the growing occurance in recent years whenever police are accused of shooting innocent people, the defence has become “I was frightened for my life”.
How long before the police are too frightened to leave their offices?

Hard to know what's true or not true at this point, but I've heard that the policeman in charge ordered the other officers to standby, while the shooter was killing the kids for some 45 minutes. The shooter was eventually taken out by border patrol agents who were not under this chain of command.

The grandmother who was shot in the face, reported to police that the shooter was in route to the school some 30 minutes prior to the shooting. When the shooter arrived at the school, he crashed his truck into a ditch. Bystanders went to help him, and he started shooting at them. No doubt this led to more calls to police. When the police were outside the school waiting, parents who were on the scene were urging them to go inside and take action. When parents tried to go inside themselves unarmed, they were detained by the police. One lady escaped detention, and ran around the back of the school where there was an open door, and rescued her own child then left. There were also reports of individual police going inside to RESCUE THEIR OWN CHILDREN, and then exit the building.

This is another reason to have the second amendment, because you can't trust the police to protect you. In fact they have no legal obligation to protect you or your family. Not in the US anyway.

Without private gun ownership, we would still be part of the British Empire. No thanks.

Privately owned firearms were part of the American colonies long before the Revolutionary War, and were a big part of the revolutionary militia. You need to do a little studying doc.

Yeah, their biggest problem is obesity. Went to Disneyland a few years back and I have never seen so many young fat ****s in my life. What was worse was the enabling mentality. If you’re on a ride on scooter, you went to the front of the line. Guys and gals in their late 20s riding around the park on electric scooters drinking coke out of oversized cups and chewing on a massive turkey leg at the same time. Just disgusting

So what would you do ? Repeal the 2nd Amendment ? How about just get rid of the entire Bill of Rights ?

Then you think the 400 million some odd guns would just be handed in to the government without a fight ?

You're still thinking like a prison colony.

This dumb ass prison colony bought back all our guns after our first serious massacre!!
Now we don't have to send our kids to school wondering if they're coming home.

Yep, that's the great thing about Australia, people just don't own guns. Except for Bikers and criminal gangs but they just take themselves out, which is great!
It makes all the excuses from the US just seem nonsensical to us.

YOU can’t protect you either. The fact that so many school shootings continue to achieve the intended outcome of widespread deaths and injury demonstrates the fallacy, while blind, ignorant idiots like you babble on about the so-called protection afforded to you under your “sacred” Second Amendment.

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

Do you think this most recent lunatic, or any of his predecessors, were members of a “well regulated militia”? What about you? Or 99% of your gun-toting, living-in-fear fellow citizens? For a so-called “superpower”, you all look pretty piss weak from the outside. Guns don’t make you tough. They just make you feel tough. Until a real crazy with no moral compass or value for others lives steps up and puts a gun in your face. Then most of you face the reality of just how impotent you are and that gun ownership is just another form of mental masturbation.

USA has a terminal illness, and you and your attitudes are the symptoms.
