Now that would be something, since the 'vette has gone all rear-engine and all If the new car is still compared to the current model of 'vette, but, not counting on that at all, but wouldn't that be something, a rear-mid-engine V12 for the commoners!
This actually IS logical. If one of the combustion engines is superfluous, it’s the V8. With the small V6TT hybrid producing more power and faster lap times than the 812 Superfast, there is no need for a V8 any longer. The V12 provides that something special and that priceless sound, whether it’s to be in unassisted or hybrid form. Furthermore, as good as a Ferrari V8 sounds, the V6 actually does sound better than the V8 imo and indeed does sound like a ‘little V12.” Potential SF90 VS, followed by a V8 Icona could be the swan songs of the V8 lineage entirely.
By definition, an 812 replacement would be a regular production car, not specifically limited in number or production time frame. Hypothetically anyone who is an established customer with the factory should have no problem obtaining an allocation. However, the caveat to the above is this new phenomenon first seen on the V12 version of the Purosangue and now starting to show up even on models like the 296 GTB and 296 GTS, and that is this … dealers are starting to sell out their ENTIRE PRODUCTION RUN ALLOCATION of popular models even before the first customer car hits their showroom. For example, let’s say every dealer takes 75 deposits for a ‘regular production’ vehicle like the 296 GTS before they even take delivery of one for their first customer … that’s 75 vehicles X 55 dealers and that’s over 4,000 vehicles … that’s the entire production run of pretty much any model…gone. Completely spoken for. And I’m saying this because … this is exactly what is happening. Dealers are selling 3+ years worth of production before the first car hits their showroom. So…like I always say… if there is a model you even think you MIGHT be interested in…cozy up to your local dealer and get on the list before the depost list even exists. And, as is happening now with Purosangue V12, even that may not assure that you ever get a vehicle. You can’t be too early or too vocal. Just trying to be of service. Getting shut out of a VS does not shock most customers. Being told you can’t even get a regular production model you’re keen for is a rude awakening. And if you aren’t TOP or VIP then you need to be EARLY and FAST …
We are all waiting for an icona SP4 "F40" with an 830 HP four liters TTV8 ICE only to say goodbye to the V8 engine. The Roma basically is a Portofino with a fixed roof, so he it's not a new V8 car: the last production V8 was the F8 tributo, whose name already tells what will happen, as it's a tribute to the long and successful V8 lineup that ends there. Maybe there will be an SF90 VS (I bet there won't, but who knows), but what I do know is there is a 750 HP 3.0V6 TT upgrade ready for production, who will make the V8 useless. The V12 is useless too (its power is more or less the same of the V6TT last stage and the V12 it hasn't any big power growing up possibility left), but it's fascinating and "self seller": it will stay until the last day of ICE production. Ciao
There are already some new roof solutions on Ferrari models. Perhaps the F167 will debut with a completely different roof solution. Personally, I find the Omologata the best in this regard, although this solution has a bit “Miura-Style“ in it. In any case, this could then be discussed very controversially. So I wonder a bit how day355 comes to his statement that nearly everyone will like the new design...(see #995) Image Unavailable, Please Login
The roof treatment ( like the 812c) allows them to design a front mid engined car which looks like a rear engined car.
Any indication when the timing is for this model's introduction? All these clues are making me excited to see the complete product!
Doubt it will be this year. There are still 812 GTS models as well as many of the 812C models which needs to be built and finished. Next up is the SUV. I'm guessing after the 2023 summer holidays. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
We both know that will never happen. Instead, he'll say again, "You know I can't" (or something similar). But some influences of the 275 GTB with the pronounced hips can probably be expected. Day355 said (#417) when we see the new car, we'll be able to quickly identify the inspirer. And which Ferrari GT of the past has the most sculpted hips? Suggestions please...
I would love a clean sheet with no need to reference past models (or F1 noses), these inspirations are not always good/cohesive IMO
I know it's a newer model (1996-2005), but I'd really like some inspiration from the 550/575M Maranello. This car has a timeless, classic beauty, one of the cleanest designs.
Yes, the 550 Maranello is underrated, a timeless classic beauty as you write. But I think that Ferrari will bring something completely NEW with a small reference to one of the old models from the 60's (look at the 296 GTB and its reference to the 250 LM). But as day355 said, the design team did a much better job on the new F167 (#29).
As far as I know it will be similar to Roma but bigger. It will be 12 V hybrid or 12 V N/A but in this case will be a limited number per year
I imagine it will carry some Roma-esque design themes but be easily distinguishable. Opposite of the past where the V8 convertibles followed the design themes of the bigger brother V12’s. I think same idea just different order. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
