Fairly scathing assessment right here: https://www.planetf1.com/features/can-daniel-ricciardo-come-back/
I guess Gasly will never go back to Red Bull. A seat at McLaren is more likely. But he will be blown away by Norris, IMO.
Having a driver not scoring points is way more expensive than paying him out and cut him loose. That would not be implusive at this point.
What I was trying to say is that he does an awful lot of **** knocking on the side for a driver who isn't a champion. The schtick is tolerable when he's in the mix and highly questionable when he isn't.
Today's Daily Express ( not a serious source of info) quotes in an article that 4 drivers are at risk of not being seen in F1 next year: Daniel Ricciardo and Mick Schumacher as already discussed but also surprinsigly Ghuanu Zhou and Nicolas Latifi who are pay-drivers, for lack of performance. I am wondering how Sauber-Alfa and Williams can afford to lose their financial contribution.
Bottas is responsible for 40 of the 41 points, coming inside the top 10 in every race he has finished, including a best result of P5. Bye Chinese rookie lol
Not even remot Latifii is crashing so much that I think the net balance is negative for Williams. It's only Schumacher that crashes more, with two total write offs this season so far.
Maybe this is better to have a good driver able to score big points or podium than a driver unable to do it and crashing a lot costing millions of damages ?
Zhou really hasn’t had a great year so far, some could say it’s bad luck, but when you compare drivers to their teammates, Bottas set the bar on where the Alfa can run. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Charles, Bottas, Lando, Magnussen and somewhat Ocon is showing what their cars can do, their teammates not so much
Read in : TheJudge13 Alonso could end up replacing Ricciardo at McLaren in 2023 ? Zak Brown is a great fan of Fernando who doesn't like it much at Alpine.
Alonso at McLaren for a third time? I don't think so, McLaren will opt for an experienced driver with a few more years left of his career. I think they will be looking at Magnussen and hoping for a Perez moment. Magnussen would be a lot cheaper than Alonso and the way he rests in him self now he could be a serious contender in the right car.
But is Alonso still worth anything ? At Alpine, he has 10 points after 7 races, against Ocon who has 40 ! Nothing tells me he would do better against Norris at McLaren.
Alonso has fast times in prac and Qualy. I’m certain Zack has an idea of what performance he has to offer. At this stage he is not looking at LH / Max salary numbers as well. He just wants to race. Possible yes. Likely???????
