    Now you know why they called low level routes in the 70s OB-xx for oil burner. We usually saw the smoke trail before we spotted the BUFF on low levels. Especially when there were still some Ds and Gs remaining.

    I once saw a J57-powered B-52 make a low-level pass like that at the Merced fly-in in California. The best adjective I could think of for the resulting noise was "shattering". I wonder if it actually did shatter any glass in the immediate area!

    I mentioned it once before that when they tested the number two B-52 with all 8 at full power on Boeing Field, the flap track support forgings "shattered" and two of the flaps dropped off the wing. At that time, Boeing had no test facility where runs like that could be done. The Renton parking lot had an engine test stand in the north end of it with the exhaust aimed at the lake and they ran engine tests wether workers were in the lot or not. B-52's were bad but a KC-135 with full power and water was worse for some reason. Literally ear splitting and fuselage skin splitting that required anti sonic fatigue straps on the aft fuselage. The good old days.

    What's this, a Mosquito at Vancouver International? Actually the aircraft was supposed to fly to its new home in Kelowna, BC today but an engine issue will keep it grounded for a few days. It's the only pure-bomber Mosquito currently airworthy. Yeah, the green in the paint scheme is all wrong but that may be fixed in due time.

    That airplane was a big mistake. The owner thought that the fuselage radiator was a high drag configuration and installed the wing tip radiators in place of it. Bad idea and I remember, it crashed during one of the post war races. The name Reynolds ( ballpoint pens) comes to mind. Going to have to look it up some time.
