Yep, Jeff Trappett : https://www.warbirdsonline.com.au/2017/05/30/cac-ca-18-mustang-a68-118/#:~:text=In%201978%20the%20Mustang%20was,civil%20register%20as%20VH%2DAGJ.
Nice interview with him in my link Was always a nice man but he's looking old now , poor bugger, was a dashing man He says in the interview he's had it 30 years but I remember him flying it in the RAAF and I left in '83 so he's had it closer to 40 years now
Yes, Jeff Trappett - met him a few times through my school mate's dad (his best friend and fellow RAAF pilot/mustang pilot). From memory, Jeff was a 744 QF captain when I met him in the 1990s. He'd be retired by now, I suspect.
If he was in "Nam than he would be what early 70s at least ?.. When I spoke to him at Mangalore airport I asked him what he enjoyed more the modern or the P51 ....silly question but the answer was what I expected .
Yes, 70s by now. He was about 10 years older than my mate's dad - I remember that there was a fair age difference. They were also in the roulettes together flying the Macchi. Mate's dad flew the Dakota based in Butterworth Malaysia, the Mirage, Caribou and ended up at 1 CFS, and from there the roulettes.
In the past he has done a flybuy at Historic race meetings (many years ago) Have you been to Temora airport ?
No, but it's on the list. I spent most weekends between 1993 and 1996 at Point Cook with my mate and his dad and other RAAF/ex-RAAF people who spent every spare minute they had mucking around with or flying warbirds - Mustangs, Harvards, Winjeels, ct-4s etc. Met some amazing people and had the time of my life.
Yep, as a Roulette pilot he was still a nice chap. We use to wind the Roulette pilots up by standing next to the runway and pretend they were on a control line
Well worth a drive good drove once you leave Hume hwy and than flip over the Hune and stay in Canberra and down the Monaro hwy home Once you have been to the airport . How have you been? Amanda has asked after you!

The Constellation was a highlight for me. Front wheel so high so the props had room. Image Unavailable, Please Login Silly signature here to annoy KIAI
