This pic shows the car originally born as 2035 GT and renumbered into 1931 GT.
Taken at the Modena Motorsport Track Days at the Nürburgring.
Nothing to do with the SWB which Gooding is going to auction in September 2022 in the UK.

Chassis 2021 GT was crashed at the 3° Trophee d'Auvergne 6 Heures on July 10th 1960 and had to be repaired at the factory.

On July 31th 1960 there is a "2021 GT" in the AvD Rheinland-Pfalz-Preis (Fernand Tavano). Is it correct that this is chassis 1931 GT renumbered into 2121 GT and that the renumbering process had taken place in between July 10th and July 31th?

    Absolutely NO.
    You are mixing up numbers.
Tavano raced 2001 GT on 31 July 1960.
2001 GT and 2021 GT is not the same number.
No relation to 1931 GT or 2121 GT (a S2 Cabriolet !!) or 2021 GT.
You may also want to consult the excellent book about Fernand Tavano.

I am trying to pinpoint as accurately as possible the period of all the chassis number swapping; since I had an entry for "2021 GT" at the end of June this swapping process had to be in a very short period of time - unrealistic short.....

As you pointed out correctly, "2021 GT" for Tavano is a silly tipo. That leaves the next races for the chassis involved at dates in Mid August and later:

    "1931 GT" 10.09.1960 Road America
    "2021 GT" 20.08.1960 Tourist Trophy
"2035 GT" 13.08.1960 Grande Premio de Portugal

Is it reasonable to assume that at mid August all cars involved have their new identity?

ps: I wish I had a copy of the Tavano book, but I don't. Unfortunately I don't have unlimited financial means and library space :(

Car owner I am talking about.
Guy in black shirt on other side of car with hands on A-pillar.
The entire scene is staged. Gunther Philip was an actor and gentleman race driver who used all sorts of alias names.
