It seams if Hamilton doesn't have a superior car and engine, he is just a good driver! Other past champions have succeeded with inferior equipment and still won. We know who they were.

Time and circumstances bit him in the arse. Had he won last year it would have been the perfect time to retire. Under the circumstances, though, retiring would have made him look like a pouting loser. So he was compelled to come back to an unproven car with an aggressive teammate who he knows his team considers to be the future. Now his weaknesses have been exposed, and to be honest I don’t think his heart is in it.

I think last year would've been the perfect time to retire...instead of blaming it on losing the title, he could've used the excuse of losing faith in the sport or some nonsense. It looked like he was quitting for a while but seems he was convinced by Toto and the zero sidepod concept allowing them to obliterate the competition. All Merc's pre-season talk that everyone has a target on their back this year (well, they are attacking from behind!) has backfired massively.

I do find it funny that now all of a sudden he wants to drive for Ferrari, isn't it funny since it's the fastest car now?

Add in a tough not so great season and age + fast new team-mate. Wears on most humans lol! We should not be surprise at what we are seeing. I respect his achievements. Simply that George is fast and now 8 races is simply faster. It really is not an accident. The talk of LH getting his 'groove' back is wear thin now I think.

George confirms who the future is. The only question is who will replace LH and when. That day fast approaching now.

Since 1957/8 only 11 times has the f1 title been won by the none winning constructors champion team, never has the 4th place constructor won the drivers title.

Seems like your point stands for every f1 driver ever, Not just LH.

McHam had a great run with that magic carpet Mercedes.
Let's see what he can do in the 3rd fastest car.
He did nothing special against Button at McLaren.

Hamilton only won 10 GPs and got 20 podiums against 7 GPs and 15 podiums for Button,

    Like you said, nothing special.

Ham was running a new experimental floor and sensors. He did more overtakes than most today. Well deserved DoD

Yep, that could be an alternative, but I feel Russell is a better driver, so should be paid more.

    Your stats are correct.

I don't think Hamilton has to be ashamed of his results against Button.

It's like when detractors say he was beaten by Rosberg; true, 1 year out of 3!

The whole of his career also proved he was far more successful than both.

    It's not BS mentioning it.

Funny how statistics where the gold standard at Ferrarichat when Michael Schumacher had the best stats for ten years, now the only thing that has changed is that Lewis has the best record in the history of F1. I don’t remember Michael winning that many races in the last few seasons as he began the end of his career in F1? Just fond memories of what he had accomplished over the entirety of his career.
