Road America set for a repave. A big job on a 4 mile circuit. https://racer.com/2022/06/07/road-america-set-for-a-repave-in-late-2022/?fbclid=IwAR3f_BlNAx4LtPEBC6j4asUupZ1y3DzNkjDbm3Hq1C-QwvWLGizYHpgk9AE
October seems kinda late to be starting that in Wisconsin.... Road America has done a ton of upgrades in the last few years, new bridges, paths, campgrounds, etc. good to see investment in that place
An early start to this weekend's IndyCar TV broadcast Sunday. They are back on NBC. Here's the schedule: https://www.indycar.com/Schedule/2022/IndyCar-Series/Road-America
Looks like on track activities end by 10-3, so should be able to get things done without much concern. They have just 2 open days this season where something isn't going on, so they don't have much choice....though not all events use the track. The path to the inside of Canada Corner used to be a goat path where I usually saw 4-5 people. Now it's a 10' paved road with a beer cart near the apex. That's a big reason they now rent 800-900 golf carts at spectator events for $400+ for 3 days. All things considered, it may be the finest track in the world.....but I'm a little biased. Loved visiting Elkhart in 97 and 2002, wonderful place, very nice people, the Spa Francorchamps of America...
RA is my favorite track on the IndyCar schedule…..excluding indy itself, of course. I hope the changes won’t dilute its unique personality.
I think this news is not only reflective of the greatness of Road America but also the upward trend of the IndyCar series: https://racer.com/2022/06/11/indycar-proving-a-hot-ticket-at-road-america/
If one has Peacock, the Indy Lights race is up soon this morning. Sting Ray Robb (love that name) is on pole. 10:30am Eastern
Herta takes an engine related grid penalty today. https://racer.com/2022/06/12/herta-takes-grid-penalty-at-road-america/?fbclid=IwAR3gH_aSI1JeO-gkenpXzxbCmZk8BO2nxrUQXLX-4IZ0y7orGN3a-FGYn2k
first lap was hectic what's up with Matty Brabs? fast everywhere he goes but can never land a good ride. he was in Indy Lights ten years ago.....is he a phenomenal ******* or something?
It looks like they have the fence. It's reparing and planting the poles securely which will be tricky.
So, red flag continues for the Indy Lights race. They probably will resume after the IndyCar main event.
Great to see Rossi on pole. Was his impending move out of Andretti his idea or the team’s? I hope it works out. McLaren’s commitment to the series has never seemed that firm to me.
