I did a quick search, so apologies if this has been covered elsewhere.

I’m about to embark on replacing the brackets on my 458 Italia to which the cats and cat heat shields mount to as a preventative measure. This as I am aware the rubber bushings become brittle and start to crack.

Are they a simple swap out? Anything to be aware of/look out for?

I bought all new hardware too, so nuts, bolts, washers and the small cap screws to hold the heat shields.

Also does anyone know the torque settings for the various fixings? Or is it just ‘tight enough’?

I just did this on my car. Very straight forward job. It's a very good idea to get new hardware! That's what I did and I'm very happy about that.
The torque according to the manual, for all the bolts (except the heat shield) are 25nm (18.4 ft/lbs).
As far as any issues... The only part that gave me trouble was the heat shields. I felt like I couldn't wiggle out the brackets with the shield attached (without bending it). Since I didn't want to bend it, I took the torture approach. I took off the 2 cap bolts while the hangars/bushings were basically still in place, so I had to do it by feel mostly. Somebody told me that a mechanic took their hangars out without having to remove the heat shield first. If true, I apparently didn't find the right angle/technique. If you figure it out, please share. Or maybe he bent the shields but didn't want to admit that, lol.
If you choose to do it the way I did, I recommend loosening all the mounting bolts, then try to put the bracket in a position that makes it easier to work. Also don't fully tighten the hardware until all the hardware is in place.
Good luck, keep us updated on your progress!
BTW, I posted about this in the DIY thread, you can see photos of my dry rotted bushings there.

    That’s great insight thank you.

My job has been put on pause unfortunately, as the new hangers/brackets came and despite being genuine the paint finish on them is ridiculously poor. I don’t want them in my engine bay and so have asked if I can try some more. They even have rust in places for goodness sake.

Oh wow that's terrible. There's no reason for them to have RUST on them!
Mine had a good finish on them. Definitely not as good as they should be, but they match the rest of the engine compartment fixtures. They look new as you would expect, and definitely shouldn't have any rust, that's for sure.

That's not good. That would annoy me.

They are going back and another set ordered.

I doubt any of them are very well finished though which is a shame.

    Quick update on this one.

I had them check the warehouse and review a few sets of these. All had varying degrees of poor finish. Went with a set with the best compromise, better than the last set but still a bit rubbish.

Decided to take matters in to my own hands and rubbed them back to refinish them with a little stopper to smooth and a few good coats of hardy matte VHT paint. They came up lovely. Shame they couldn’t have been this way from new.

Also found when flatting them that the brown is a type of primer they applied, not rust.

What's the part number for the bracket with the bushings? I need a pair as well for my 458

    Thanks in advance
