This JB Weld is what i used and it works great, but what I did first is clean the surface that’s going to be glued with brake cleaner the dry it with clean air, i used the aerosol air duster use on computer. What’s nice about this JB Weld is that right after you mix it, it is thin enough where you can apply it to fill the little nooks and crannies or little cracks which what i did. Hope that holds up! That's the section I had remolded back east when rebuilding mine a few years back. I think it breaks because we're used to pulling on the stalk to flash or use the highbeams and our cars don't do this.
If it holds up then you save yourself the pain of taking it out and having to disassemble the Vitaloni unit to remove the stalk. Putting it back together is such incredible fun!

David, it sounds like you really enjoyed putting your back together --- not. I hope it holds up for Mike as well. JB Weld is some crazy stuff.

I love it when detent balls and little springs fly all over the place when you start separating the parts! 62 year old eyesight doesnt help either. Getting a pair of those Harbor Freight magnifying headset helped me clean and reassemble the unit.
Mike knows he can just bring it over and we’ll take it apart to send it out if need be.

David I actually have done this before and there’s a trick to this so you don’t loose that little ball bearing and the spring. You can bring yours over instead and I’ll show you. LOL!

Repainted my wheels using Duplicolor products. I didn’t have much curb rash, just the silver had come off leaving primer gray in many spots. Happy with the results. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Nice job Kevin. Did you use any clear coat or did they not need it?

I did use clear but it was a matte finish. If anyone is interested these are the steps and Duplicolor product ids. Biggest issue is spray painting during summer in Phoenix, it dries too fast.
    1) scrub wheel with scotch brite pad and dish wash soap.
    2) wet sand any scratches with 400 grit sandpaper
    3) wipe clean and use a tack cloth
    4) apply sealer - K05250402
    5) apply color - BFM03417 Ford Silver Frost(I think best matches metallic flake)
    6) apply clear - HWP106

Perfect! I don't need to do it yet -- but. I've restored a number of cars and you did a fantastic job. The good thing about the AZ heat & sun, insta-oven for curing. Do you have any photos of a rim with direct sun and closer up?

My rims need a bit of rash touch-up as well... You've just inspired me.

I finished removing the carburetors for a rebuild; genesis being a leak out of the 2-1 accelerator pump. I will have dinner with the Webers this evening!

I scrubbed the deck portion between front and rear banks, removed a decaying fuel hose therein and a nearby coolant hose.

Ordering the carburetor rebuild kits is next.

Is that a dual flux capacitor in the trunk? :)

I finished the DCNF carburetor rebuilds today. 1978 GTS 25349.

Float bowl heights are set (48.0 and 53.0 mm). Everything is cleaned.

I increased the idle jets from 0.55 to 0.60. I recorded all jet sizes and types because I’d probably forget at some point.

New gaskets and accelerator pump diaphragms replaced the old. The circled diaphragm was the source of my fuel leak.

Tested the accelerator pumps; all are a-ok.

All but one of the accelerator pump jets were at least partially clogged.

I also replaced another ancient fuel hose and coolant hose while I had the opportunity; $12 well spent.

Flowmeter arrives tomorrow. It’s time to reinstall and see what’s what.

Side note. Pierce Manifold’s shipping for the rebuild kits was outstanding. The order was perfect.
