May I suggest that you move your question over to the 308/328 subforum…I’ve found over the years that the model-specific forum members are both more responsive and knowledgeable. Steve Magnusson in particular will be able to help you figure this out.

OK, first, you're going to get a demerit for not having the version (and model year) of your 308GTSi listed in your Profile .

If you have a US version 1980 308 GTSi = try a different ...101 relay in the relay P (Relay for start injector) position. Relay P is in the bottom row on the far right side. You can temporarily "borrow" a ...101 relay from one of the headlight functions for a test. Relay P should really be called the "Relay controlling the Fuel Pump Relay".

If you have a euro version 1980 308 GTSi = give a shout back as that (surprisingly) has a somewhat different electrical architecture for the fuel pump operation.

Also, please clarify if this is for all starts (cold or warm) or only just warm restarts (as that's a different kettle of fish).

 

If it is equiped with kjet, aside from an electrical fault, these are the possible culprits:

• Fuel pressure regulator seals (see DeLorean cold start repair kits)
• Thermo time switch
• Fuel Pressure acumulator
• Leaky fuel hose

Definitely try another relay P as the first diagnostic test.

 

Yes, "far right, bottom row" -- it's a ...101 relay. Do you have the OM for your car? Very good diagram in the fuses-relay section with the relay letters.

 

Hey -- no fair changing the symptom! Your first post stated just a problem starting, but no runability issue (once started). If it's just generally running crappy (in addition to being difficult to start) = that's more of a Bosch CIS problem somewhere. See Chapter D of the 281/83 Mondial8/QV WSM -- a much more complex issue to diagnose.
