Why don't we have [cheating bastard] emoji we can click for F1 ? Mercedes are cheating, have been for years, the winners always are. I never believe a word that comes out of the Stalag 13 camp, Toto is a liar (so is Horner, just not as obvious)
Binotto is dreaming if he thinks reliability does not matter. It’s already put them near 2 full races points down. RebBull and Ferrari are absurdly lucky Mercedes are off the pace. Ferrari need to ensure reliability now!! Mercedes: No complacency over F1 2022 reliability record Mercedes insists it is not getting complacent about its finishing record in Formula 1 this year, despite rivals Red Bull and Ferrari having big reliability headaches. On the other hand, championship contenders Red Bull and Ferrari have endured their fair share of mechanical problems in the opening phase of the campaign. Red Bull's Max Verstappen retired from the grands prix in Bahrain (fuel pump) and Australia (fuel leak), while Sergio Perez also failed to finish in Bahrain (fuel pump) and was forced out in Canada last week with a gearbox problem. Ferrari has also had race-stopping car problems beyond the incidents that put Carlos Sainz out in Australia and Imola. The Spaniard suffered an hydraulics failure in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, while team-mate Charles Leclerc had engine failures in Baku and Spain. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff welcomed the finishing record of his squad, but did not believe that it had created an invincible car. “It's funny that both teams keep having their cars stop,” he said. “But you can't be complacent about that because it can swing in the other direction very quickly. Last year, when we look at how we went with the engine, we had the other phenomenon [and lots of problems]. “That's why I don't want to get too excited too soon." While Ferrari’s reliability failures have been very costly in championship terms, with Leclerc potentially losing two wins because of problems, team boss Mattia Binotto does not think that DNFs will solely decide the title fight. “Reliability is certainly important, as important as the performance, but I don't think will be the only factor,” he said after the Canadian Grand Prix. “I think development from now until the end of the season is another one, as is the budget gap, and then reliability finally.” While F1’s cars are all-new for this year, the power units are a carryover with the engine regulations not due to change until 2026. But Binotto says that Ferrari has been exposed by an overhaul during the winter, plus limitations that have been imposed on dyno running. “The power unit is a completely new design compared to the past, and the problem is because it's certainly a young project,” he said. “On top of that, there are limitations on the dynos which were not there in the past, so you cannot run much on the dyno. We are limited, which means the exercise is more complicated.”
One doesn't need to support a team to enjoy F1. Fanaticism for one team can only lead to big disappointment.
Mercedes not ruling out future switch to Red Bull F1 car concept Mercedes has not ruled out switching to Red Bull's Formula 1 car concept for next year as it evaluates how best to make a leap forward with its 2023 challenger.
Mercedes: Ending year as F1’s "first loser" not the target Mercedes boss Toto Wolff says that overhauling Ferrari to finish second in the Formula 1 world championship this year matters less than getting back to winning ways later this season.
Mercedes..... money money money moneyyyyyy. Design 4 cars in 2 years. If they get it wrong, bring developments every race. Budget cap life.
https://www.planetf1.com/news/mercedes-w13-not-bouncing-anymore/ HAM can go back to taking all the credit as the GOAT sjd
Pushed the rule through > Fixed bouncing > Ferrari still bouncing = Merc will jump them in the championship. Just like we said we would, but apparently we're conspiracy theorists....
This sets a great precedent to get around spending caps: 1) I need more track time for my drivers because it’s a safety issue 2) I need more engines than everyone else because it is unsafe out there if I have a failure and someone is right behind me because I built a crappy engine and I need to redesign mine even though I spent my money cap and it’s a safety issue. 3) I need more gear boxes than everyone else because it is unsafe out there if I have a failure and someone is right behind me because I built a crappy gear box and I need to redesign mine even though I spent my money cap and it’s a safety issue. 4) I need to spend more money engineering my aero because my design sucks and it’s a safety issue. 5) I used my tire allocation in practice and qualifying and I don’t have new tires for the race so I am going to need new tires, no one else, for the race because it’s a safety issue if one blows out because I used my allocation already. 6) I need more wind tunnel time because to make my design better than everyone else’s because I have figured out their design now and it’s a safety issue. It’s the same old crap that everything is a safety issue. If a Mercedes’ driver can’t finish the race because they spent all their money on a crappy design and it wears their drivers out, then retire the car. Now, the rules everyone else had to play by and built their car within their allotted money gets kicked in the face and not rewarded for their frugality and design prowess. Whatever, cry babies.
Apart from the start of the oscillating information gathering so a limit can be set in the future, and the plank changes, the only reg change for spa (as the other was brought in at canada, it just hasnt started till Spa) , what TD is being changed that merc pushed through?
