In keeping with tradition, the same refrain on every dejected British website, F won. In Silverstone. LH failed.
Just imagine the next technical directive impacts Red Bull more than us. This could change everything for the next 13 gps ( optimistic hypothesis I know)
Sainz had to be repeatedly told he needed to go faster because his teammate with the broken end plate was riding his ass. Once through, Sainz couldn’t hang. The only time Sainz was ever faster was when he had new softs and Leclerc had half-dead hards. Honestly Leclerc’s fans have every right to be pissed off and dump on the team, and to a lesser extent, Sainz. I don’t blame them. For me, the team had the opportunity for a 1-2 finish, which would have narrowed the gaps to Red Bull and Verstappen, but instead, they opted to back their driver in second and dump their driver in first down to fourth. I understand the reasoning was that Sainz’s tires were older, but they had to know that Leclerc’s would have been absolutely useless in a scrap. It was also stupid to think Sainz would back up for Leclerc. It raises the question of why is the superior driver punished for doing a better job? It’s either favoritism or incompetence, but I have to go with the latter.
Stay out stay out ...box box box box ...this is all we need to know about the clowns Sure many teams make wrong decisions but Ferrari own it ..they are the WOAT
Absolutely They don’t know what they do during the strategical decisions. This is the only explanation.
No contact at Copse this year because the guy on the inside didn’t run wide this time… Tweet— Twitter API (@user) date Recall too that LEC had to run wide last year when being passed to avoid another collision.
Your only problem with what happened is that Carlos and not Charles won - no issue, everyone has a fav. driver. If Vettel was still at F, I'd be equally upset. But it's disingenuous to present it as being somehow objective, that you only care about F winning the WDC, and Charles is the faster driver and therefore Carlos' win is a loss for Charles and F should force Carlos to play 2nd fiddle. Once F1 lets us run virtual teams you can model your strategy vs. Ferrari, while assuming all the risks and responsibility. Things change when decisions have consequences and there's no undo button. Right now you're comparing theory vs reality.
My issue is that Ferrari had multiple ways to secure a 1-2 finish and they failed. LEC finishing 2nd is miles better than 4th. What was revealed today is that Carlos does not believe in his own heart that he is a true race winner on merit, and that he needed to secure ONE win by hook or by crook because the opportunity may never again present itself.
Yep, Lewis could have easily sent Leclerc into the barriers at Copse, just like he did to Max in 2021, by clipping Leclercs right rear tire..........but Lewis didn't this time. This is what Nelson Piquet was debating with the reporter in November 2021. Lewis knew what he was doing by clipping Max's right rear at Copse.....it's an easy maneuver whether at 180+ mph or 30mph.
That was shameful and there is no excuse. It was either intentional or he was out of control, and he put Max at great physical risk. I believe the former, but either way he deserves less respect. When drivers have trust and respect for each other we see great racing like we saw today. When drivers are ****s, we see Max get punted and Charles take a wide berth knowing he'd get the same. By the way, full credit to Lewis for his drive today. I still think he's a ****, but he was at his best in Silverstone. He showed that it could be done and that he is capable of doing it.
The only reason we're annoyed is because the SC saved us from actually losing the race. And our only hope for a title didn't get the obvious strategies.
Tweet— Twitter API (@user) date These marshals should be hired at the next hippy protest...untold times more effective than the useless police in Europe. Them sitting down though, if there wasn't a red flag, and the cars would drive by at full racing speed? i.e. if the red wasn't thrown in time for idiots on track. An overtaking driver would hit them and the carnage would be unimaginable. I wonder if a team would get the damage covered under force majeure.
(1) RevvinUK on Twitter: "Class from the current champion, fair play #F1 #BritishGrandPrix" / Twitter nice chat between Sainz and Max post race
Remember when the team was run like a branch of the Vatican, full of internal plots, back stabbing and rancour ? Results were crap. Brawn stopped that. I think it came back in late period Luca. Binotto is simply not like that though he has to guard his back. He has overseen (and as an engineer been involved in) the most important thing in any teams pre-season, the delivery of a competitive car. He will listen to Charles point of view as he is not a dictatorial sort of guy. I am sure he will take on board some of what Charles has to say ( as Charles is a singularly important human asset) but not let a driver completely dictate team policy. I think modern young men, like our drivers, who are balanced human beings with sufficient but not excess ego (and whose personalities were not formed by an ego maniac father like Joss) do and will respond to this approach. Under Binotto there is a chance that strategy will improve through rational analysis. A more dictatorial figure would risk the pit wall doubling down and fighting back with old school political machinations. Between them I still believe that they will sort things out as adults and that the team will continue to improve (as it is doing). Even if they adopt a strict number one/number two driver policy post the summer break, our single biggest problem is that the RB is designed by the greatest designer of the modern era, and driven by a confident and able world champion. We have a driver who can match Max (which is quite a thing), what we need is to push our car development. If we do that the results will come and our own issues overcome, if not they won't.
By the way, do you know that when John Paul II was elected Pope , he is rumoured to have offered the following prayer: Dear God , thank you for allowing my ascendency to the Papal Throne. I love the clothes, the paintings and the Vatican garden is very nice. It is not that I am ungrateful , but in your Holy Name, why didn't you tell me the place is run like Scuderia Ferrari !
Binotto is an engineer, it's fine that he behaves like that. But it's abundantly clear that the strategy has been woefully incompetent for the last 15 years (funny, that's exactly when Brawn left!). He needs to act like a team principal and make some changes. The car is mega fast, but it's the sheer incompetence of the pitwall that will cost Ferrari the WDC if not both titles. And it'll continue to happen until they make worthy changes.
But yet the FIA after investigation decided both max n lewis was at fault, personal opinons aside as opinions dont have the facts like the fia. Still no excuse to use racist language, its never ok. I am shocked you are even trying to justify it... Lewis backed out from MV atleast 3 times before the incident, thats 3 times avoiding max and his reckless driving. If max wasnt treated differently and let off hook being covered in that fake saying " let them race" bull ****, then it would never have happened in the first place. Christ max is allowed to brake test people, drive ppl off track, can even go football pitches wide legally defending corners.. He even pushed MSC off twice and bashed wheels in his regulation breaking redbull car in the last race with no punishment, even though penalties having been given out for the same thing a few times already.... If it wasnt for MSC they would have crashed... When every body has to give way to one driver constantly to avoiding accidents with that one driver and that driver has a nickname called crashtappen. Normally its a pretty good indicator of who the worst driver is.... Thats doesnt mean i dnt think he is fast though, as he is, fastest on track... I just believe he is danger to others on the track, even CL doesnt take any chances with Max which is why the fights between max and CL have been underwhelming while we get good action and close battles with out contact when he is out the picture. You think the end of Silverstone out front would have been as good had Max been involved?
The car is not THAT fast. They have many poles, but that doesn´t mean much if you don´t have the race pace. I think they were only faster at Australia and Monaco; those are quite unusual tracks so not a good sign. At Baku it broke down when leading, but it was due to strategy not because they weren´t faster, and at Spain both the Ferrari and the Red Bull broke down too early to know who had the best pace. At the other races they were behind the Red Bulls, or at best, about the same. I´ve always said first fix the car, the rest only matters if you have a good car.
