Don't know about 512's but the CH Testarossa did have a different exhaust.

Well aware; even factoring that in its a great deal for a low mileage 94 Swiss spec

I bid on this car! Condition report suggested the basics were in great shape (and Swiss cars have a reputation for being great).

You can spend $100k making any car perfect, as an old car the sky is the limit on reconditioning.

    bargain.
as usual, the swiss have the highest per capita population of ferraris after monaco, so the prices are low. 20% duties and/or shipping fees keep outside bidders a bit leery.

Why is a CH spec desirable?

yes, but now that these are fungible ww, it is a bargain.
take this one for example....$230k all in in Gstaad, then add $15k in transport, and another $6k in duty, and add another $5k just for the hell of it. thats $26k+230k = 266k all in landed in usa, where the market for this car is now $300- 350k for the last many sales on BAT.
hence, this result is a bargain for anybody willing to go through the bs to get it to the usa.

not so much the spec as the requirements to meet the tests to be roadworthy - they are strict in CH, thus anything on the road is defacto in good shape.

It's very very easy for a car older than 25 years old. Hardest part is waiting (and shipping delays). I'm currently awaiting my 3rd car coming in from export this year (Germany, Botswana, UK). The wait is agonizing, but once its here its here.

Yes, but did that car have an active registration or was it "abgemeldet" or whatever the term is in CH.
Last major was in 2014 so, quite a bit of deferred maintenance.

If you're counting 350k maybe. But I think it's much safer to buy it from a dealer in the EU for a similar price and you can do a proper assessment of the condition and have some accountability.

Bonhams won't stand behind that description / condition report.

sure. but that wasnt what we were discussing. my comment was simply on the price for that car, and i maintain that it was a bargain.
