Apple Car Play

Ok kicking around placing an order for an F8 if I even still can.

I know that this option is absurdly expensive, since I get it for free when I buy like a Prius.

Please be kind regarding my tech ignorance, but I assume I need this if I want to play music off my phone? Or is there some less hi tech standard option that allows me to do this, charge my phone, use nav off my phone?

Someone else will be more in the know than me, but if I'm not mistaken:

1) I thought order books are closed for F8
2) MY 22 and newer should now have Apple CarPlay as a standard feature, along with a price increase
3) If for some reason 1 and 2 are incorrect, you can still play music off your phone via bluetooth streaming withOUT CarPlay on 488/F8. You can charge your phone via USB cable (weak if I recall), and you can use nav off your phone but it won't show up on the two dash displays without CarPlay. Many including myself use an iPhone holder in the cup holder, or mount to windscreen or dash to view the phone better and run nav

Yep order books closed since October 2021 and all cars being built after February 2022 had apple car play standard (with a 4k base price increase of course)

 

My car was built in January 2022. $5,000 price increase, no Apple CarPlay. C’est la vie.

 

Feb 2022 build (spider), no Apple CarPlay, no price increase.
