Working on my tell-tale lamps, ‘98 F355, I find this. Was TPMS ever installed on any version of the F355 or 355F1 ? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Kind of thinking the same thing, planning for the future. Corvette came out with TPMS in 1991, standard on all cars in some countries in 2007. The Corvette group introduced them with using Goodyear Run On Flat tires.
That's wild. Is there any wiring behind it? Speaking of which, are there any TPMS you can add on a car like a 355 that work?
There is wiring in the instrument cluster for the lamp, but I don't know how far the provisional wiring extends. The wiring diagrams do show wiring to a computer connector (10013) from the dash, but that's as far as it goes. No wiring to the wheels. The wiring is shown in this Suspension diagram. https://www.dropbox.com/t/ptfX7OubNJMxBmt9 The wiring goes through plug 41025 under the dash, but I don't have any clear photos of that plug: Image Unavailable, Please Login LHD drive car shown (RHD car have the plugs rotated 180 degrees) Most comments on the 360/430 forum seem to be, "how can I remove the system". It's a pain to maintain.
Found that TPMS icon/indicator, by chance, on my 1996 U.S. spec. 355 years ago. No lamp and no wiring to it.
What do you mean by "no wiring to it"? No wiring external to the binnacle? The lamps are mounted on a printed circuit board. Image Unavailable, Please Login Ignore that green wire. That was a dodgy modification carried out by a previous owner to fake a functioning Check Engine Light.
Yeah, I didn't state that too well. Nothing to power that bulb socket area, as I recall. 355 Tire Pressure Low warning lamp https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/index.php?threads/355-Tire-Pressure-Low-warning-lamp.254062/
Sorry, I’m still not with you. The wiring is built into the circuit board and the circuit board is connected to a common ribbon cable. I can’t recall if the vertical circuit board ribbon cables are plugged into the main horizontal circuit board (which is plugged into the 2 main binnacle connectors). I can’t see how you could check the wiring except by doing continuity checks at the main binnacle connectors or doing power checks at the lamp holder with the ignition on.
It was a long time ago but, as I recall, there was no wire in the push-on connector position leading to that bulb socket position. I was installing LEDs at the time and also looking for unused lamp positions to use as an indicators when the cooling fans come on.
Interesting. Thanks. Here's a photo of some of the components: Image Unavailable, Please Login So, if you can remember, the wiring you mentioned was from the left hand vertical warning lamp mounting board (PCB) to the blue disconnect plug... or from the blue disconnect plug to the main binnacle connector? It seems odd that a wire would be removed from the ribbon cable.
Not sure if this question is for me but I guess it is... I don't remember what was where on the rear of the instrument binnacle. I seem to remember a push fit connector with individual wires rather than a ribbon cable. Beginning to think I may be mixing things up with my 328. Have had both the 355 and 328 binnacles off. Wanted "Radiator Fan On" lights in both cars along with LEDs etc. Never did it on these but still plan to. Did do it on my Lancia many years ago
Thread bump with apologies if this has been stated in other threads…..but is it possible to aftermarket TPMS in an F355?
Well, there is no digital display on the F355, so you'd have to buy one of those (hundreds of) aftermarket kits with an underdash or window mounted LCD display. Some sensor/transmitters just seem to fit on the tyre schrader valves, but they would look a little odd on a Ferrari. Some fit internally and probably have a better range (with built in antennae). You may need to rebalance your wheels after installation. If you just want a dash warning light to come on when pressures are low, that might involve a bit of research. I don't know if any of these systems have aux. outputs to turn on dash lights. Ali Express special... https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005558769369.html?
