With both cars crashing, there is probably something wrong with the Merc... They had apparently a good pace before crashing though.

    This is Formula One.
    Obviously Vettel isn’t Vettel anymore.
And Stroll is good enough to win a pair of races in his 4th seasons in Formula 2 ( comparative level to my eyes).
Not enough to gain the 2 tenths this car deserves to be in Q2 today.
Don’t forget the AM is a RB18 copy in top of that !:D

Watching this quali I'll succumb to the "present-ism" that is oh-so-pervasive in motorsports commentary and ask: does Lando have to leave McLaren to win? It isn't often you hear a driver tell his team "I'm afraid to brake". And that leaves me wondering if he isn't working small wonders with a bad car.

I didn't know about Sauber and Audi. That solves a mystery.

It was suspected that INEOS bought a stake in Mercedes-AMG F1 in view to take it over one day.

Dutch crowd cheering Hamilton’s crash. Lowering the tone again. I am no Ham fan, but still.

It's a reaction to all the booing Max received last week.

Nah, see Vettel crashing out of the lead of the German GP a few years back.

I was told years ago that "Two wrongs don't make one right".

All this booing is doing is just lowering the tone. It's just tribal behaviour.

God, I am so glad I don't go to GPs anymore !!! I couldn't stand all that thuggery ...

    Very much agree.

The media do not help in that regard, especially part of the English media were quite vocal towards Max this past season.

The gap with Perez is again significative.
They decided to develop the car in Max direction but by doing this they gave Perez an unbalanced set up to his taste.
Sainz is doing better it seems so we will see if this move is good for the WCC ..

Maybe it's based on where you grew up, but I'm used to cheering for your team in sports, and booing the other team, just part of the game.
If you don't like the Dutch fans in Austria, what about HAM praising LEC for passing him at Copse and really insulting VER? A little trash talk is the lifeblood of some sports.

on another topic, with the long run down to turn 3, Ferrari have a great shot at grabbing the lead.

The MB cars were just too over the line and trying to push the limits the car doesn’t have .

Question for you guys... Outside of rapidly changing conditions, why do the top teams keep running hard in Q1 and Q2 once they've set a time that is clearly fast enough to get them through? There's no benefit to setting the fastest time and all it does is use tires and risk an incident/penalty.

Booing is not part of my culture. For about 40 years, I went only to watch motor races. I am not interested in other sports.
Since there is a good coverage of motor racing on TV, I do not see the point of attending anymore.
But I see that the crowd behaviour in F1 is getting worse, and slowing matching football hooligans.

I see in GPToday that Audi is negotiating with Lawrence Stroll to take over the Aston Martin F1 team in 2026.
