No argument, I said it's painted and that's why it cracks, meaning the paint.

btw Ferrari also used to use full hides, Jaguar (and others) use split hides, so half the thickness and faster deterioration.

Jaguar never used VM hides , they used a cheaper Connolly product Autolux ,American leather is good and thick just look at a 60 year old Caddy or Lincoln seat .

See you on GG, your shout .

    #0236.

I recall looking at it when it was for sale in the 1990s. Jeff was asking $150,000 for it when a Dino 246 GT in the same condition would have been $70,000. Quite a bit lighter than a 246 with an alloy body and block.

If this is the car that Sam Johnson (of JWF fame) owned, it went back to the factory to be converted very early in it's life.

The original 206 alloy engine went into his F2 replica, the car got a cast iron 246.

206 is a sweet revving engine, but they have no torque.

Just looked it up, Sam's was #0748, built on the cusp of 206 to 246. So it had splined hubs and the headrests on the firewall, but a 246 engine (my recollection there was wrong).
