Fast lap in Q2 deleted after qualifying, which eliminates all the Q3 times. The deleted lap occurred with 3 minutes to go, but the team didn't know that it was at risk. F1 has to do better.

with all their sensors and cameras, this is inexcusable.

Going wide where he did actually costs time as well.

I clearly saw the transgression during the telecast of Q2 yet it wasn't seen by the stewards or mentioned by the broadcasters. Ultimately they made the right call but why so long? If I could see it on my TV half a world away why couldn't the stewards?

It was his final lap in Q2 and he wouldn't have had time to go again. His previous fastest lap in Q2 had already been deleted. He should have known that he had transgressed since it was pretty obvious to everyone watching.

What's particularly disappointing is that it robbed another driver of the opportunity of Q3, which (given HAM's crash) would have put them 9th or higher.

true. Not sure if I said it here or elsewhere yesterday, but I'd be feeling pretty aggrieved if I was gasly.

I was listening to the commentary on the F1 live timing app and they mentioned it straight away and kept querying why it wasn't being addressed

The delay in applying the rules is inexcusable; but the fault remains.

There should be no leniency regarding track limits.

Although it would be so much better if staying on the track was just the fastest way ...

Walls instead of painted lines would do that, like Monaco. :)
