I honestly don’t care a bit about Nelson Piquet’s opinions on any matter except perhaps racing. I regret that he made those comments, though…………because it triggered all the virtue signalers to make sure everybody knows what their opinion is.

Piquet is 69 years old , he should know better but obviously he doesn’t or doesn’t care .
He should not have made his stupid comments , what they mean in any language is irrelevant.
Maybe he is racist and a homophobe and maybe not , what he is for sure is a person with not tact and no class .

    Exactly !

Why should I react or have an opinion about what Piquet said?

I may hear the same epithets any time I go on public transports in London.

    Legit, ROTFL! Pathetic.

I can imagine the team radio...

"There's no grip, mate, my tires are done. This car is a dump truck and our strategist is a ****."
"Should we pit now in order to finish on the podium?"
"No, let's stay out. I need to lead a lap this season."

...but then you got to "virtue-signal" about your own elevated state of being when complaining about those lowly virtue-signalers (AKA people offended by racially charged and or homophobic insults) So it's a win for you too! ;)

    or equally...why not?
Why have an opinion on anything, then?

I don't have an opinion on many things, mostly those that don't affect me. Is that uncaring?

I don't know why people are expected to have an opinion of everything these days.

For some reason, I thought this was @william and I was like WTF? Then I scrolled up a little and saw it was you, and the world suddenly made sense again.

Tell us... What does DF stand for? On second thought, never mind. We all know.

No, it is called being smart.

My wife asks me about the color scheme on the new house we are building.
I tell her: "I do not think I am even qualified to have an opinion on that subject"......

The Mercedes is the 3rd fastest car on the grid.
Within the Mercedes team, Hamilton is the slowest driver.
Reasonable prediction: he ends any race at position 6.

    This specific race:
    Perez is eliminated by Russell
    Russell is eliminated by himself.
Sainz is eliminated by a blown engine.

    6 - 3 makes 3.

Simple math. No "GOAT" qualities involved.

I wonder about the post race interview with Lewis not wearing his racing suit. I take it, the sponsors on Lewis's racing suit are okay with it as he has done this numerous times. He is wearing a t-shirt with the sponsors on it but it's not Leclerc and Max whom adhere to their racing contract possibly???

It’s another way to call attention to himself, to be distinctive from the other drivers in a way that movie actors used to do to distract viewers…Steve McQueen famously did it to Yul Brynner in The Magnificent Seven. Or more likely to get under the other drivers’ skin.

I doubt that the sponsors care. It’s probably addressed in his contracts.

agreed.....it's his way of showing he wants to be different than everyone else OR that he's entitled to be different because it's his choice. He goes against the grain as they say.

If enough front-runners get eliminated, even a lapped driver can stand on the podium.
