And I’m sure your favorite driver outdrove his car capabilities because yes, that’s what humans, eh, do.
Correct. My favorite driver from the past outdrove his car capabilities, for sure in 1980 and also in 1981. In 1979 he had a championship winning car but accepted the number 2 role. In 1982... who knows?
Of course it is. But very few would celebrate the skills or talent of the lapped driver, finding himself on the podium from front-runner elimination
Yves Montand "There is no terrible way to win; there is only winning"......... Grand Prix 1966........
Direct from the FIA news release: "Masi was removed as F1 race director ahead of the 2022 season after the FIA found "human error" was to blame for the incorrect application of Safety Car rules in the closing stages of the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. In an attempt to speed up the restart of the race after a late Safety Car period, Masi ignored sections of the FIA's own sporting regulations to set up a last lap battle between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen for the title. Had he followed the rules correctly, the race would have ended under a Safety Car and Hamilton would have been crowned champion, but by shortcutting the restart process Masi handed an advantage to Verstappen, who went on to overtake Hamilton on the final lap and win the championship"
Repeating nonsense over and over again does not make it true. Verstappen had an advantage because he pitted for new tires. Hamilton had the same option but choose to stay on old tires. That gave an advantage to Verstappen, who went on to overtake Hamilton on the final lap and win the championship.
No matter who beat Lewis, in what possible circumstances, the cult would find excuses and hammer their "point" across, and spread eternal hate for whoever beat Lewis.
Max had the advantage because the race director did not follow the rules and created a way to give Max an advantage. The race director got sacked for doing so. You sir, can hide your head in the sand but that does not change what happened. With the race director looking for a way to prevent Lewis from winning his 8th title, Lewis knew that if he came in for new tires the race would finish under yellow and Max would win. With the race director in the pocket of Red Bull there was no way for Lewis to win. This is why the FIA had to sack the race director to restore F1's reputation as a sport and not a TV show directed by the race director to get better ratings.
I don't know if Masi was in Red Bull's pocket, but he commited a massive blunder by no following the rules. That fact has been accepted by the FIA, and his departure closes this sad chapter. He had lost all credibility as a race official.
There had been plenty of opportunities to "hand max a title", yet none of those options where exercised. The only reason Lewis was even in the fight was by season long intervention from the FIA and Mercedes in the first place. Take your bucket of salt elsewhere, there is a new LEGITIMATE champion in F1. Masi wasn't fired, he got another job within the FIA. The public backlash wasn't worth keeping him around. FIA amended the rules they admitted they wrote poorly. Lewis could've pitted, he didn't do so. He couldn't have known the SC would be out for whatever time. If anything, had he pitted when Max did, history would show that the SC would end in time for racing to start anyways. Had he pitted when Max did, he would've come out ahead. Had he pitted and Max didn't, a good stop would've seen him get out ahead. It was a strategy mistake from Mercedes. That's it. The FIA report also shows that the race was restarted in because the F1 SAC, F1 commission and F1 teams all agreed that it would be preferable to finish the race under green conditions rather than under the safety car when safe to do so. The incident was cleared, so this was condition was clearly met.
Waste of energy bas. Would be nice and quiet now if lulu had won he would be long gone and making rap vids with snoop by now.
Yep absolutely. The argument he'll write back has been repeated ad infinitum. Perhaps the mods should create a LH safespace where such posts automatically get filtered to.
Ya know. I understand we could be sour too. But in racing when orders are givin they are given and you gotta take them. Nothing was overturned. To the ones who lost this is still not over. I hope they can sleep at night.
As far as 2022 goes, Mercedes still has a very reliable car, which keeps them closer to Ferrari and Red Bull. Their race pace is lacking. As far as 2021, it's over. Time to move on.
If..... ....there had been no safety car intervention, Lewis would have won his 8th title ... Lewis had pitted for new tires under the safety car situation, he would have won his 8th title. Lewis lost his 8th title because of a bad decision of himself and / or his team. BTW, claiming that I have hidden my head in the sand is fine, that is your opinion. But to suggest that Michael Masi was bought by the Red Bull team is slander. Here in the Netherlands that is a punishable offence.
Masi was not bought by Red Bull, but definitely was intimidated by Horner & his comments to not enforce the rules correctly.
The topic is not about Hamilton or Verstappen, but Masi. Verstappen was declared champion and that's OK with me. All the signs indicated that the championship was him last year, and I am OK with that. Most people got over the shock, and have accepted the facts. The issue is the failure of FIA officialdom, and the unwanted intervention of a race director to interpret the rules. I don't believe in any sort of conspiracy, but Masi created a dangerous precedent with his expediency, and that's wrong. But several mistakes were already made by Masi during the championship anyway, Abu Dhabi being the cherry on the cake. I think the man was weak, inconsistent, and easily influenced. The role of race director was beyond his capacity. Sacked or leaving of his own accord, it makes no difference, the man is out and cannot do more harm. I have no problem with Max Verstappen being 2021 WDC, and I consider it would be negative to challenge that. As an ordinary follower, I question the FIA competence to administer F1. They proved to be incapable in enforcing technical rules as shown by the porpoising issue, and I think the GP in Austria revealed new failings and inconsistency in tackling breaches of sporting regulations as highlighted at the last drivers meeting. F1 needs good governance, and it doesn't get it, IMO.
With this I fully agree. Where in the past FIA jokingly was described as an abbreviation for "Ferrari International Assistance", in the more recent past there seemed to be a strong tendency to decide in favor of Mercedes F1. The FIA should be above all parties.
It's impossible for the FIA to be impartial when it recruits technical advisers and other officials directly from the teams.
If only ham could defend on old tyres the way Checo defended against him. If only ham hadn't screwed up his Brake Magic in Baku If only ham and his fans could accept he was defeated by a better driver for the WDC
