I get what your saying, but I do think that's what he's been doing as they've increased their share in AMSP over the last few years. Look at their progress since McLaren got involved. Highest finishing car in the team by year:

    2017 13th
    2018 10th
    2019 12th
2020 4th - Year McLaren bought in rather than just being a name on the side.
2021 3rd - With a chance of winning going into the last round, although Pato was taken out and relegated to 3rd
2022 5th - year to date with one win on the board and some engine issues so far

I'd say Zak has the team heading in the right direction, and challenging Andretti as the third of the big three.

Maybe, but I don't think that's all of it. Hinch was never going to be a championship contender, but he was a solid mid/front runner on skill in his day. I think that many changes happened around that time. Note, Hinch go three of his six Indy car wins with the team, but they were definitely on a downwards curve prior to McLAren investing big time.

A sure way to kill spectator interest in the series - broadcast the races on an exclusive paid service that not all that many folks have.

    Bad move.

I disagree in principal but the reality of IndyCar's fan base probably makes you more right than I want to admit

Well, Peacock IS easy enough to get @$5.00/month; and you can cancel easy enough.
But....I'm not paying to see it. I'm already paying $300-500/month for more media than I can consume already.

I just noticed that. I can’t believe Penske couldn't manage a better tv deal. Maybe this was in place when he bought it. IndyCar needs all the exposure it can get.

Pole for Herta, Fresh off his McLaren F1 test, he looked smooth as butter in Toronto, eh. Dixon looked just as effortless taking second.

These street courses get a bit messy on the first corner of the opening lap and Toronto is especially known for that.

that was a good race. not great, but good

master class of strategy by Dixon/CGR

Toronto has had 3 years off, you'd think they could have figured out the pavement in that time

15 laps of 85 under caution

there were some good battles throughout the field, particularly in the 4th-10th area almost all race.

since you're in Toronto- I'm assuming all the stadium and convention areas surrounding the track have been largely unused since March 2020, if that's the case there's really no excuse for not improving the road conditions. I understand the climate is a bit more harsh on roads than it is here in Florida, but still....

Underway. It looks like Jimmie Johnson feels comfortable here.

And just like that . . . I jinxed him. Still, he gets away with a spin.
