Hello, my MC20 just got in, I put some extensive time into it. I just put my F8 on consignment (not because my MC came in because my SF & Roma both have arrived)

    Sound: F8
    Acceleration: F8
    Emotion: F8
    Interior: F8
    Exterior: MC20
    Handling: MC20

Overall, I was always more excited to drive the F8 then the MC20. The pure visceral feeling of the F8, the MC is lacking. The sound on the MC is abysmal, the interior is plain (I'm shocked they did this, I think they should of done the interior more like the Roma) I'm not taking away from the MC20, it's very fast but can't compete with the shear power of the F8. This does make me nervous with the 296 and the V6 Turbo, I do feel like it has something to do with the pure excitement of driving these cars.

    Positives,

The car handles great, I actually feel more comfortable in the corners then the F8. The car is absolute gorgeous, it get's much more attention on the road/ and comments on the road then the F8 here in Los Angeles where people don't even really look at you if your driving a ferrari. The amount of people I get videoing me or stopping me to ask questions is pretty unbelievable. It's probably also because the car is so new.

Overall, it was a tall-task by Maserati, they did a great job but its NO F8

one of the keys to the success of the mc20 is the reliability - and just dont follow the mclaren biz plan (proliferation of skus too fast).

the convertible mc20 looks amazin on paper. wish maserati the best - nice to have more options/competition

Power is power - the 296 is a turbocharged downsized V6, but with the help of electricity it delivers 830 hp. So it's noticeably faster than the 720 hp F8.

Not all about 0-60 times, a Tesla Plaid which is boring will blow any of these cars out. It's about the visceral experience while driving fast. Most new cars move

I drove the MC20 in Verano Italy last year and I think this assessment is spot on.
I would add that the MC20 is overpowered for the weight of the car.
It was way too easy to spin the wheels underpower and the back end just lost traction.

I am on my 3rd Maserati (2 Levante's and a GT Cabrio), but waiting for the delivery of my F8.

I optioned my MC20 a limited slip differential, so I haven't had any spinning issues.

It's my understanding that 0-60 times and top speed for the F8 and 296 are exactly the same (can't speak to lateral acceleration). This is due to the fact that the 296's additional 100 bhp is basically negated by the added weight of the electric motor and battery.

The MC20 is what the 296 should have been.

You are mistaken sir. 0-60/2 is grip restricted anyway. The 296 claims a 0-200 kph time of 7.3'', the MC20 is about 9.5''. The Ferrari is vastly quicker.

Claimed 0-200 kph is 7"8 for the F8 and 8"3 for the 488. By these numbers it seems the 296/F8 gap is similar to the F8/488 one, but on real life the 296/F8 gap seems bigger - I think the power advantage of the 296 is more available and exploitable in all conditions (something that's not necessarily relevant for a plain drag race exercise).

The MC20 has the best looking exterior in the game today IMO, but every review I’ve seen is meh to disappointing on nearly every other aspect. Shame, this might have been a nice retirement gift to myself.

Arguably, a well spec’d Pista is sexier, drives better and in virtually all aspects is much better car.

    I am biased, however :)

In my eyes, the MC20 is better looking, but would agree on everything else.

  23. Agreed.

But to be fair to the MC20, the Pista is also at least 250k, if not easily 300k more expensive. In other words, the Pista is like 2x the price of a MC20.
