Yeah, incredible, 10 years on and what a great car it turned out to be. One of the kids has it now, 170k km and no mechanical issues at all. Only annoying thing has been multiple broken wheels due to potholes. Has 19” wheels which doesn’t help
Don't know how I missed this thread. At 14 I bought a 1946 Ford sedan from under a lean-to in the middle of a paddock, absolutely complete except for a missing engine. Farmer told me I could have it for $25 or, if I took the 2 flat head V8's in his shed, I could have the lot for $10! Got my cousin to trailer it home, threw in the best of the engines and gave it a good clean and drove it around the farm for a couple of years before selling it for $500. Should have kept it, it had a heap of room in the back seat that could have been put to good use...
When I was 16 I was given an 1970 Fiat 500, it had a blown second gear from memory.. I had intentions on restoring it and I had it parked in my parents driveway for just over a week when someone knocked on the door and offered me $800 for it.. Took the money and ran I did..
Karen.....,short 5'2",bottleblond sometimes short sometime shoulder length hair, much better than average figure???
V8 283 I believe- Anemic by today's standards but flipping the air cleaner top upside down made it sound decent and it was a pretty sexy car for a 16 year old
old dragway trip ,I did it with V8 Commodores 308s, you loose some bottom end but pick up top end in the revs ..plus the induction sound .
Haha, this one was a bit rougher around the edges.. I later found out that the guy chopped it and made a convertible out of it.. He had a original Abarth as well.
I used to get paid $150/week when I was 16.. My boss banked $100 out of that directly into a term deposit and gave me $50.. 3 years later when i left I had just over $16K, to which my dad wanted me to put a deposit on a house in Glebe ($180k back then) but I knew better and bought a BMW 323i John Player Special instead for $18K..what a great investment that was.. Admittedly I did sell it 2 years later for $19K.. Still remember NRMA wanting $4k/year for insurance premium!
Your dad had the right idea .. I can just imagine the style of home ,as I spent time with friends both in Balmain & Glebe..
Nah, mine is a 1969, bought from a girl, no gearbox problems and much more expensive - $900! And for the record, my hair is all now natural colour (very fashionable ‘pewter’ )
My father bought a JPS 323 new, it was a great car! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Silly signature here to annoy KIAI
He originally told me he wanted to make a Abarth replica out of it but a friend of mine who still has his 500 convertible knew him as well and told me he had chopped the roof and used the car for weddings
Beautiful car,, Mine was an 82’ E21 I didn’t have the gold 14” BBS rims on mine though, it had these 15” alloy five oval slot wheels of which I have never seen before on another car.. It was No.27 of 70 cars built.. Your dads one looks to be an E30 84’, 85’? I wish I stil had photos of it.. I’ve turned my parents house upside down looking for the pics but no luck..
