Steve, e39 M5s are absolutely brilliant cars - a bestie has the one pic below - it looks mint and yet has done 160k km. He previously owned a 458, a black 550 and a M3 CSL. And having driven the CSL, I prefer his M5. Admittedly, it’s not 100% stock with the AC Schnitzer wheels, coil overs and high flow exhaust but it drives and sounds fantastically well. To him, it’s his dead man’s car. He absolutely adores the car. And watch this guy’s (Sreten) YouTube channel called M5 E39 Restoration - he’s amazing - all his videos on his various projects are incredible but you will gain a lot of insight into watching his E39 videos in particular. He even did an epic resto on an E60 M5 V10 manual - yes, they made manual versions for the US market. https://m.youtube.com/c/M539Restorations/featured In short - just buy one. Cheers, Rennie. That is a properly cool car. The E39 is the one to have. Looks better than 99% of cars on the road today.
If you're in Melbourne, give me a bell and I can organise a M5 e39 driving experience. My friend is pretty generous. There's a video floating about of John Bowe driving his CSL at Hidden Valley race track
Cheers, mate. That’d be great! We’ve got a fair bit going on with just having bought a beach house this week and the 355 finally going up for sale in mid August (and the Emira supposedly coming in November) but I can honestly see one of these as a really cool daily perhaps mid next year and making the Golf wagon a strictly dog / beach car.
Like said, give me a bell and I'll organise something - whether its next month or 12 months from now. I guarantee you'll love the M5 and you won't go back there after. The whole point of these forums is to build connections and share experiences - the GG being a classic case in point.
What a great car https://www.drive.com.au/reviews/2022-volkswagen-golf-r-review/?utm_campaign=syndication&utm_source=smh.com.au&utm_content=article_4&utm_medium=partner
Another boring hatchback to bring on GG. I'm proposing a new rule to the GG Executive Committee: No vehicle with more than 2 doors is permitted on GG
Shannons had quite a few nonbid/pass ins including the Mistrale, can't believe the E Type went for what it did though: https://shannons.nextlot.com/public/sales/99777/lots?filter=all&page=4
This should get Adrian all the attention he craves.........from a blue car: https://www.lloydsonline.com.au/LotDetails.aspx?smode=0&aid=34718&lid=3744869
