Consider watching the Tour d'Elegance on Thursday starting from the PebbleBeach
Polo Grounds next to Gooding Auction tents running around the area roads on a published Route ending in Carmel at Lunch time. This is a can 't miss event
That you can see and hear the Ferraris on the road then meet the owners in Carmel (crowded) but enjoyable and FREE ! Almost all the Ferrari s participate as well as many of the classics. Parking at Pebble is a pain I take a bus in from Carmel rather then driving my 575 in and usually have to park on dirt. But a taxi or Uber is a good idea.
    And parking

What I actually meant is to go out on the Tour route before
The Tour Car s arrive, watch them pass, repeat then get into Carmel
In plenty of time too see the cars arrive . Note it will take awhile
To find a parking spot there.

Parking in Carmel is a nightmare, I have plenty of experience, besides that it is way too crowded around lunch time. If you really wanna see all cars participating then you have to be at the Polo Field in front of Gooding's tent early Thursday morning.

I completely agree. I always stay in Carmel during "car week"...BUT..... on Thursday I stay far away from the chaos in town. You will Not find parking, and it gets so crowded there now that it's unpleasant, and you really can't see the cars well at all. Take Marcel's advice!

While we are talking about Carmel, may I suggest to visit the Concours-on-the-Avenue that takes place Tuesday 15th August 2017 in downtown Carmel. This event was started years ago by Doug Freedman of Atlanta and it is always a good show and hey, it is FREE, no charge, nothing. Be there before 10 am as parking in Carmel will be a problem that day too.

You can spend a few great hours at that Concours and then move over the same day to the Embassy Suites Hotel in Monterey where Tony Singer's fabulous Automobilia Expo takes place. There you can easily spend thousands of $$$$$ for genuine and original automobilia, posters, books, pix, parts, tools, stickers, literature, etc. and meet lots of true car enthusiasts. All day Tuesday and Wednesday morning. And at the Embassy Suites there's usually no parking problem.

What will be the road for the tour d'Elegance this year?

Last year they could not go to Big Sur because of the fires and if I understand correctly part of the road collapsed in the same direction so people going to the Coach Post ( very nice place to eat for sure, as well as the other place on the other side of the road, i.e. Ventana, )have to come by helicopter..( very chic Marcel, better than your own boat, no risk to have wet feet..)

There is a class in Pebble Beach this year called "Ferrari Ferrari One-off Spéciales."

I am very curious to find out what cars these would be. Concept cars, I am hoping. Anyone have any ideas?

It will be my first year at Pebble also, though ive been to the track the last 3 years.

I have a Club ticket and it says I will get a program/poster/gift etc. Do I have to carry this around all day or is there somewhere to store it, maybe where the breakfast and lunch buffets are?

Re dawn patrol, the club ticket has early access to the show field for this.

I will be traveling on my own (without my 308) and would also like to meet up at the show with anyone else willing to stop for a chat.

I'm at Quail too for the first time.

I'll be around for the third year in a row! Not as seasoned as many of you but I did spend one year actually working for the concours and the other heavily involved with a few entrants so I do know a few tricks.

If you're showing up for dawn patrol you should be able to park close enough (5-10 minute walk) that you can leave things in your car. I showed up a 4am one year and there was almost no one around yet, they didn't even check my ticket. I'd recommend checking out the cars then, before finding a comfy spot around 10am when it starts to get busy. If you're looking for some good photos wait around after the awards too. They'll usually line up winners and other special cars along the ocean facing cliffs. There are fewer people then too so you get an unobstructed shot.

Thanks Dave, that is quite the hit parade there! Jon Shirley and his 1954 375 MM is always a treat to see. He first brought that MM out back in 1998.
Two spyders the NART and Daytona models, both in silver plus the New York show car Giallo Solare (pale yellow) Daytona coupe 12301 are a formidable trio. Still like Tony's Sergio best with it's lolo blue paint! Should have been a 250 LM included along with that comp Boxer that got an invite....

JS GTO in there in white along with his 375 (0402AM).

The video is only a partial- I think about 42 of the 70 cars from the display.
Elsewhere I saw a photo of 3445 in line, the blue w yellow GTO Chris Cox has. I'm quite sure there's a 250 LM in the display along with some other great cars not pictured. Look forward to seeing the coverage of it all. So many great cars in the display and in the Concours special Ferrari classes.

Yes I think the 250LM is the Le Mans winner if I remember correctly the full concours list ( the class of major races winners)

No Pebble Beach 2022 thread? Then I'll try here.

We are staying in Monterey (for holiday) during car week and want to see some cars of course. :)
We are skipping the Pebble Beach concours, but would like to attend "Concours-on-the-Avenue" and also want to see the "Tour d'Elegance".
For the concours on the avenue we simply need to be there early to take pictures etc. We'll work that out.

For the Tour I am wondering if we can park somewhere along the route to see the cars driving by and take pictures.
Or is the road and parking closed down because of this event? Or is there maybe one big traffic jam to get somewhere?
It is our first time, so we have nu clue what to expect.

There is no “Concours on the Avenue” (use to be on Tuesday) this year and perhaps not in the future either.

As for the “Tour d’Elegance (on Thursday), it will not have a lunch stop at Carmel on Ocean Avenue either.
I believe best chances to photograph all cars on the “Tour” is at some roadside spot along the Highway 1, but it might be best to scout one or more options a day or two earlier and get there early (bring food, drinks, snacks, etc) as there will likely be a lot of other people doing same.

There are several other events that have been canceled over last couple of years.
You might find more recent discussions about various changes/details/update at the “Events” section of this forum.

P.S. Enjoy your first visit to Monterey Car Week and despite my aforementioned cancellations, there are plenty of other events and things to do around there and you might find yourselves running out of time to do all or most anyway.

Thanks TTR. What a pity that Concours on the avenue is cancelled...
I had checked everything a couple of months ago and but it has been cancelled after that.

I have seen some other events already (some in Pacific Grove) and maybe I will visit one of the auctions.
I will try to find more information on the tour to see where they will be driving exactly.

I believe you can have a closer look at the Pebble Beach cars for the Tour by going very early to the PB Equestrian Center to see the cars prepare for the Tour start. You can also go to the PB Equestrian Center staging area on Saturday to see many of the Pebble Beach entries in final preparation for the Sunday Concours. I do not know what the parking set up is in that area this year; the Gooding auction venue is there too.

Very best is to be right in front of the Gooding auction tent (PB Polo Field) early on THURSDAY 18 August 2022 not later than 07.00 am. Corner of Stevenson Dr and Portola Rd., right in Pebble Beach. You can see all PB Concours cars lined up for the start of the Tour. All in one place. Do NOT arrive later than 7 am!! There will be many many many people and it is always very crowded. But it is free, no tickets needed. And since you are already there, right after the start of the Tour at 8.30 am, you can preview the Gooding cars only a couple feet away.
Your only problem might be to find proper parking. Good luck with that.
