Man, I wish people* would stop sharing this ^^ because for years it was a best kept secret, but now, it too has become way overcrowded and eventually the organizers will either stop allowing or restricting public attendance or start charging some stupid money for it and making it into another “life style/fashion” event.

*Yes, that includes my long ago my comments about it too.

You might also keep in mind that due to aforementioned overcrowding at the starting grid, good, unobstructed photos are nearly impossible to achieve and should you wish to get clear roadside photos, getting to a good spot may be a very difficult, especially for someone not familiar with the area and traffic congestion caused by crowds leaving after the start of the tour and many perhaps trying to get to some good photo-op spots themselves.
Choose accordingly.

Marcel, compared to last couple of Tour starts, especially last years, your 2017/2018 photos don’t seem to have any spectators present.
I would guess last years crowd was at least 4-5 times bigger.

There was no Pebble in 2020 and in 2021 Europeans were still banned from travelling to the U.S.
Hence I missed 20/21.
Last time I was in Pebble was 2019.

Yes, I was fully aware of this ^^(hence I didn't specify 2020), but I do recall '19 Tour start having been already hugely overcrowded, if you will, and '21 was way worse, but I guess that's why so many events eventually become victims of their own success and why I've lost interest spectating at most them or if I do end up attending, I often leave after couple of hours, way ahead of the madness of mass exodus.
Last years PB was no exception, I think I walked away from the show field by 10am (as it was getting stupidly overcrowded) and drove away before 1pm.
Only time I usually stay (close to) full duration at any event is if I'm exhibiting/presenting (client cars) or judging, but don’t find either having much of a point anymore, so ...

Here's one of the 3 times that I snuck on the tour. I just happened to be in the vicinity with my old Maser when a turn worker waved me in among all the GTOs! The crowd keeps getting worse every year though. And I mean bad!

I experienced a similar thing years ago, when I left the equestrian center after the tour cars had taken off, except “route marshals” somehow accidentally managed to direct me (in my ‘32 PB Roadster “hot rod”) to front of the Grand Marshal, Sir Stirling, leading the tour in a 300 SL Gullwing.

Once I realized this somewhat awkward situation, I pulled over to roadside and proceeded to wave Sir Stirling to pass and go on, only to see him and all following cars attempting to pull over also, so I quickly got out and ran over to tell him I’m not part of the Tour, after which he and all others took off again.

Then, I just waited until there was no more cars coming before I got in and headed out…
