Maybe you're right, maybe you're not.

Personally I think Ferrari will be very successful going forward. Their high-end very limited cars will always have customers and their unlimited cars will still demand a premium, but may not be collectible. Ferrari has made some really ****ty cars over the years and the service required to keep them on the road. And still people by them over Toyota and VW, because they are a Ferrari. And that Ferrari magic did not come from the Mondial, 355, 360 etc.

You have to remember the future customers have been growing up with different interest than you did. My kids make their own electric e-foils, skateboards, mountain bikes etc. They can make them as cheap as possible and they will have a very limited life span, if any, or they can make them from quality products and add all the carbon they want and end up with a high end product. When I tell then about how I tuned my first dirt bike, they just look at me like I'm the oldest person they ever seen.

Certainly, the new generation is different.
But, you can't claim Ferrari membership with 100% electric cars.

It's another brand, and... future customers will want to no longer belong to Ferrari, because only the coat of arms will remain.
One can always lie to others by inventing links of continuity, but rarely to oneself.
In fact, it's very simple, a Ferrari without an engine is not a Ferrari!
We will always find people to say that the color of the sky is green and not blue, but that's the way it is, there is only one truth.

Interesting. One camp says people will still buy F-Cars on the name alone while the other camp says there will be nothing to differentiate F-EVs from other EVs.

He said people buy EVs to have the choice of complete silence.

People buy supercars for emotion (sound, acceleration) as well as appearance.

Other than you will know the Ferrari by the sheer number of "electrical failures", that's why Vigna was hired, to stop those failures...

Not really. I said that any fake sound in EVs should be optional as the a fake sound of a spaceship is not everybody's liking and with when it's fake you should options.

I'm saying that Ferrari's are so much more than the engine. It's also the exterior and interior design. Lamborghini's have V12's and I think they are fun to drive but I would never own one, except for the 350 GT.

What other option do they have when 50% of your business is tied to EU. Remember E-fuel has not been approved as an option to get to zero emissions yet - best to keep a low profile and maybe the greens don’t ban it.

At the end of the day Ferrari is it’s people and during this EV transition my concern is for the 4,000 employees and thousands of others whose livelihoods depend on a sustainable business model. Remaining an ICE only company, really isn’t an option.

Enzo internet quotes isn't the constitution of Ferrari :) It is a great historical view into different times.

I'll leave you with a few Enzo quotes more :)

“You have to have courage to stand up to your critics.”
“I have, in fact, no interest outside of racing cars.”
    “What’s behind you doesn’t matter.”
“My cars must be beautiful. But more than that, they must not stop out on the circuit. For then people will say, ‘What a pity, it was so pretty’.”

And you are going to buy a fortune of electric Ferraris just to support the cost of the action so that Ferrari avoids layoffs and can continue to get rich against your will ???
It is a noble step, but which needs to be extended to the whole planet in this case !

Yes, if it's a good product! Why would I want to buy a Tesla or Porsche EV, when I can buy a Ferrari EV and support the livelihood of people I know (many are 3rd generation employees). To me Ferrari is its people and the products they make.

IMHO the purist Ferrari died many years ago as its business model wasn't sustainable. It's obvious that EV vehicles are a forced future so a pivot is required. Do I like it? No, but I like the thought of thousands of Ferrari's employees losing their livelihood less.

I agree that ferrari will suffer, I don't think it'll be the end for them though but they'll just downscale

people won't pay the kind of premiums they do atm for a ferrari as they do now, it's also worth bearing in mind many young people just aren't interested in sports cars period and have other things they care about

I turned up to a family event in a ferrari fairly recently and the young'uns weren't interested :D

as someone mentioned earlier, I think for me I'll have an electric S class and possibly some quirky ev like an McMurtry or something and hang on to my older petrol sports cars until the last drop of petrol :)

the idea of trying to engineer sound into electric cars is just so stupid to me, it's going to be synthetic either way sheerly because it'll exist as a sound generator and nothing else in terms of function

I mean the Vette has destroys Ferrari dollar per dollar, yet - Ferrari is still here.

For the sake of argument, let's say I agree with you. That electrification is the end of Ferrari.

    Past
I don't plan to sell my ICE Ferrari, so good for me, if they are superior in every single way to their electrical counterparts = $$$. With Porsche already using carbon-zero fuel, it can't even be legislated out.

    Present
Ferrari Still has ICE for the next 10 years, so not sure why any whinging about the current situation; get 'em while they're hot; as the example above, it's like I told you, I'm making the last Honus Wagner cards back in the day.

    Future
If, due to electrification, Ferrari can't produce a superior product then their competitors, they will be treated by the marketing accordingly. We have tens of fully electric cars today; I can rank order them in sports superiority. (not to mention beauty and rarity.)
