I guess sitting in a chair outside dealership will not get any better info :) :). I did notice
in the Ferrari investor relations page that production is WAY UP over last year
and the forward outlook is very strong. - Q2 had 3,455 units in 2022 , UP 770
units from Q2 last year !!!!

Setting up a tent and camping is what really makes the difference. :)

Is it normal to have your car on the water (status 90) for 6 weeks for the New Jersey port?

It all depends. Status 90 simply means it has been shipped, but it doesn’t mean that it is on the water - this can add time on the front end (waiting for boat, which can be longer if you just miss one leaving) or the back end (waiting for post-boat inspection/repair). It has not been abnormal for folks to see about 2-3mo from when they hit status 90 to when it arrives at dealer ready for handoff (US, east).

You can check with your dealer to see if the car has landed somewhere and is stuck for some reason, but it’s plenty likely that it’s simply still transiting. Never hurts to ask though!

Actually the car is stays 85 while waiting for the boat. As soon as it’s loaded it goes 90 ( usually a few days or a week after it’s on the boat the status will change) Shipping times can vary depending on the time of year and how the various ports are working (my boat was stuck just outside of Valencia for almost 5 days waiting to get a spot and had a few extra days there I assume unloading/loading before it made its way out to NJ. The big US delays are once it’s in US customs and waiting for shipping to dealers but those are status 91/92. These customs delays CAN be long for a variety of reasons. My Porsche 992 Turbo S Cab sat in customs for 4 months last year because Porsche had not filed proper CARB certification.

Great detail thanks! I completely forgot about 85. Customs and port can be hell definitely. When living in the BMW world, I knew a guy who had damage on his M4 from the boat. Sat in NJ for weeks because they didn’t have the parts on hand (was at launch). It’s true that you just never know for sure what’s going on until the SA sends you a photo of her coming off the truck at dealer :)

So the Delia landed in Norfolk Virginia yesterday, assuming with my new F8. I didn't know they took the cars to Norfolk. Do they then transport them to NJ for PDI in Customs or how is this handled?. Honestly this is the first time in ordering a new Ferrari that I've known all the details on build status, shipping, etc and it has actualy made the wait much harder...LOL.... in the past I just placed my order and many months later my dealer would just call me and tell me to come pick the car up.....Definitely a pandoras box moment for me.

It will wait in storage to clear customs and then get on a truck to go to the dealer. PDI is done at the dealer. Hopefully they’ve got a few cars to bring and it’s a short wait in the port for you!

You are Right Stew. I shouldn’t have said pdi as I know that’s a dealer thing with prep. I know they do some inspection at customs however just didn’t know they did that in Virginia. I thought only New Jersey.

I have a F8T on the way with a final destination in SoCal. It went to status 90 on June 7th. The dealer just let me know that it got to status 91 on Aug 12th, status 92 on Aug 15th, and is now available to the transport company. woo hoo!

I don’t understand 2 months in customs. That’s crazy. At that rate my f8 won’t get delivered until mid to late q4 but based on the shipping routes the car should actually be in Virginia now (unless it dropped in Miami as someone mentioned and was the last stop of the Dalia)

Same exact timeline here. Only difference is my car is expected at the dealership in Florida this week. Not an F8 though but doubt that makes any difference.

Make sure your dealer checks the battery status…..that’s a long time to be off the battery tender.
