Hello, Is there a way to disable to the automatic door lock? It’s rather annoying having to manually unlock the doors when I want to exit the vehicle. Thanks.
You have an automatic door lock? Sounds like a fault, not a feature. When does it lock? Make sure that your door switches are hooked up to the correct plugs. When I bought my car, I recall the fog light switch was hooked up to one of the doorlock plugs.
Hmm… interesting. The doors automatically lock as soon as I hit the gas pedal and start moving. The lock/unlock switches and remote work normally.
For info, used doorlock modules are not expensive: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/141002100834 They also have internals which are easy to repair. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have 97 Spider US model. I couldn't find any info on automatic door locks on Google or on F-chat. I'm thinking it might actually be a bug, not a feature lol.
Ok, I just did some testing. The car doesn’t have to be running or moving. If I turn the key to power up the car, as soon as I step on the throttle the doors lock. I can repeatedly step on the gas pedal and the door locks won’t try to activate again. If I unlock the doors and step on the gas pedal, they will lock again.
Update: the key doesn’t have to be in the ignition and the doors will lock if I step on the gas pedal. Strange.
It may be due to some additional installation by the dealer or the PO. Look for a micro switch somewhere on the gas pedal.
Someone else is having issues here.... https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/148679921/ As Miro says, it may be a modification, so check for a switch on the accelerator pedal. Or perhaps there is some wiring behind the pedal that is shorting out when you push it ???
Thanks big time for all the help everyone! I took apart the pedal cover and front center console and discovered that the throttle cable was pinching a bundle of aftermarket wiring for the radar detector/laser jammer which was causing the door lock switch to activate. All fixed now! Woot!
