    Texas!
Yes, please. I have been a passenger in a F50. It wasn’t a pleasant experience. Then again, I have major trust issues.

    fair enough.
however, whenever i hear this description of a drive in an F40 i immediately see that the F40 you drove was not properly adjusted.
when i first bought mine, it was like driving a grenade, you had to handle it very gingerly, and never knew when it was going to explode.
but after the 2 year revamp, when we reset everything to factory spec, the turbo lag has diminished, the tractability has increased massively, and the power is much more evenly distributed across the rev band.
it now starts engaging around 2800 and pulls all the way through 7000 rpm.
do i want to drive it in a hurry in the wet, around a corner? no. but it is far more drivable now than it was since it left the factory. happy to let you try it out if you come to houston.

back to the headline subject tho....

of these 5 cars coming up (are there more?) for the purposes of price discussion, we can eliminate the racer, which leaves us 4
of those 4, i suspect the gooding car will reach the highest price given that it is perfect, a usa car and has low miles.
then i think the sotheby's usa car will come in 2nd, the mecum car third, and the broadarrow car (ex BAT ) will come 4th (but still exceed the price achievable on BAT at the end).

Ross, you really have to stay out of your F40 because whomever last worked on it didn't optimize the fuel system and you are clearly inhaling far too many petrol fumes. Unless you are simply making up these numbers as you go along for illustrative purposes to underscore your focus.

I was also part of the judging team that gave that car 100 points along with @Rifledriver. And I concur; that was the finest F40 I've ever seen and/or judged. I'm also surprised the owner is selling it.

He may have found an even better one (Lower miles). Not like it is his 1st, or last. He also has a great one with hydraulic front suspension. Converted US car. Maybe he likes it better.

A hydraulic suspension has been worth its weight in gold for me.

Let's just say there are far more than half the original F40s which are in a decent and unmolested state, I'd say of the @ 1,300 cars, at least 1,000 specimens remain that are decent & unmolested.

Hydraulic suspension for the front only?

anyone not to sell at this time should think again, your friend is doing the right thing :) I see he only put 100 miles or so on it in the 4 years he has owned it

the only difference is the F40 has 5 or 6 times the fan boys to comment, F50 all day!

I doubt anyone with a decent F40 is bailing, as they will be the ones that will be the most desirable in any market. Maybe a very long term owner who bought in when they were a reasonable price may be thinking of cashing in as they can no longer use it due to its greatly increased value, but that is all.

I bet very few are financed these days, people who have the liquidity to own such cars will not get hurt much in a downturn.

As I mentioned before they are a great hedge against inflation, cash in the bank is tumbling in value. Plough it into a great piece of mechanical art you can actually appreciate is a no brainer.

Front and rear. The raised crosswalks in my neighborhood are no joke.

Those systems can be problematic and can compromise handling, keep an eye on it.

The car came with the OEM suspension in a box so I can always revert if necessary. But I like it. In fact a few of my friends with F40s saw it in action and wished they had it themselves. I believe it's one of the reasons my front lip is so clean.

Paul, what is this thread about? I'd say a pretty decent F40 for sale, one of the best, really close to one of the few last best ones.

You have misunderstood my comment I think, I was saying that I doubt any of the owners of the cars for sale are actually bailing as they think the cars are going to go down in value, as in fact they are a good hedge against inflation, so they will be probably selling for reasons other than a worry the cars will devalue.

It was not a view on the condition/desirability of any of the actual cars for sale.

With their tax laws I am surprised he is admitting to that much. I am sure the brief case that changed hands is full of service records.

    He's almost certainly incorrect.

Nobody and I mean not even an old man who's been stuck on a desert island for 35 years and never seen a computer in his life would sell an F40 for 100k Euros, the fact that he's cared to even own an F40 means he'd know it's an object of desire worth many times that figure. Perhaps the old man put the word out that he sold it for 100k Eu for obvious (tax) reasons.

yea, I did partly, appreciate you for saying something, thank you for that. I see a lot of equity in them and people wanting to cash out, take rifledrivers friend, he will make $1.3 million for owning a car for 4 years and putting 130ish miles in his F40...
