I have an opportunity to secure 2023 F8 spider from a friend of mine who ordered a while back and scheduled to be delivered by first quarter of 2023. He is asking me to pay 50k over MSRP. Is it worth it ?

it’s well optioned and I can still pick my own color and options as we speak.

If the car hasn’t been specced already- zero chance it will arrive first quarter of 2023. More like summer.

I would not be so certain of that, a car without specialty options (hand painted shields for instance) can go from 10R to shipping in 2 months. Ferrari is pushing out the last of the F8 production...

    @mjayz
As for your friend handing over a ready-to-go allocation for 50K over, that is an amazing opportunity, never to be repeated and remember, this is "it" for non-hybrid Ferrari V8s, the Tributo. I think it is a very worth-while expense...

I would also make sure the dealer does not have first right of refusal to buy the car back. And definitely don’t let them know you are paying 50k to your friend.

Take a look at the market, what they are selling for and you will have your answer. 50k is a bargain in this market. If you didn’t want it I am sure there would be a number of people on here that would be willing to take it.

Ferrari would more than frown if they learned of this arrangement.

    When was 10R?
I presume 10G was May 9, appears your car would of gone 10R mid-late August.

Here is an 812SF build, 6 weeks from 10R to warehouse:

It arrived (west coast) mid-August, so 10R to customer delivery (via boat) 3 months

Go for it if it's feasible financially.

But do it because you love the car, not for profit.

There's nothing like the experience of owning the prancing horse.

    1. invest the 50K in the current stock market
    2. wait for the F8 replacement. . . and hope the exhaust sound won't be as anemic

Your friend is burning a serious bridge with the dealer. I can't imagine them letting him sell you the allocation. In fact I think its against FNA rules and maybe the allocation would get pulled?

However, based on everything Ferrari has indicated, there will never be an F8 regular production replacement, it's over for the V8 non-hybrid, and, apparently, the only future V8s will be turbo hybrids and may be limited to hypercars otherwise, any future V8 (rear mid-engine) regular production will be an SF90 successor...if that occurs remains to be seen. But, from what I know with absolutely certainty is that there will not be an F8 successor.

And, any model with first customer delivery after June 2024 will be extraordinarily anemic in the exhaust sound...

Correct , no way the Ferrari dealership is gonna go for this and if done after delivery I’m guessing your buddy is toast to Ferrari. This doesn’t pass the sniff test at all. Good luck though.

If you can pull it off, do it. I picked up my F8 Spider last Saturday at dealer, less than 2 hours later I was offered $100 over for it. I thought they market had cooled but I guess not that much.

    Not selling it, awesome car.

This was just recently mentioned in another thread, where someone explained how they were able to get an allocation just recently:

Have healthy suspicion and be very careful of your coin! But best of luck, will keep fingers crossed and hope to see photos before long.

Posting your your non-compliant purchase here probably wasn’t a good idea to start as my SA-dealer actively monitors FChat.

Best idea for your friend is to hand allocation back to Ferrari so he isn’t black-listed in the future.
Making a couple bucks violating a signed “non-resale” contract probably isn’t a good idea.
Other posts have said the Ferrari will bring legal in to enforce the contract agreement which states you cannot sell the car for between 6 months to 1 year.

This is exactly the type of “Flipping” Ferrari is trying to prevent.

    :(

The Ferrari world is not that of NY city or Tokyo, it’s quite small.

Personally I wouldn’t buy or sell this way.

I don’t think your friend can do that based on current environment as the VIN is tied to your friend’s name and good luck with trying to convert that over to you.

Ferrari is pulling the allocations from dealers for customers that are cancelling their orders. This is worse than cancelling!

    What a friend? 50K

Most likely the Ferrari dealer is not going to go with this arraignment…Your friend will be flagged and no chance he receives any opportunity in the future…

There are always work around I guess - the friend can still buy the car in his name, give a right-to-use for 6 months (or whatever time he's supposed to keep the car) and then officially sell the car. This way there is no breach of any contract...

Unfortunately it would not be feasible in most states in the US. The owner would still be legally liable for anything that happens in the car. Not sure a friend, no matter how good, is willing to take on that liability.

That's an issue if there is no way to take an insurance.
