Hi, my car was perfect, all shifting and gears, no lights nth at all, I do track the car too and it has been perfect since I own it 3 years ago.
However during a MOT, my handbrake was not tight enough so I asked a nearby garage to adjust the handbrake for abit and I saw there is a tiny drop of oil on the gearbox gear sensor which is on the actuator, and so I asked them to remove it to give it a small clean, that is all that I did, and the gearbox light and engine light came on, and computer reads gear position sensor error, my garage didn’t touch the pin inside the sensor, only cleaned the outer bit, and nothing else, and now whenever I go into gear in a very short time it pops back to N. Does anyone know what happened?
    Thanks in advance

When they pulled it, they set a F1 and Motronic ECU faults. With an SD3, they should be able to reset the codes and she should be fine.

If your garage isn't used to dealing with these, then you can easily not install the potentiometers correctly. Samcrac had this issue with his 612, and I had to send him some videos showing how you twist and rotate the pots back into position.

You could test for this by looking at the live data feed from the actuator position - you could decople the actuator part, then wiggle the control shaft about and should see the live data change in proportion to the position of the shaft.

Hi, thanks for the advice, my car is at dealer now and they did try to clean the codes, however the codes are still there, do you mind sharing the video, the dealer are asking me to replace the sensor, which are not cheap and the biggest point is that it was fine before cleaning, so the sensor must be fine. I don’t want to waste money. Thanks in advance

I've just found the two videos and re-watched them (thats always cringeworthy). Unfortunately I only have them on my whatsapp, and the desktop version doesn't let me download them to post on here. Send me a message with your whatsapp number and I can forward them onto you.
