IndyCar needs more short ovals
Agreed. I nominate The Milwaukee Mile. Back in the '90's it was epic. As it is relatively flat the CART guys would basically use the road course wings. What it needs is a patient and skillful promoter . . . and a date at least 8 weeks removed from Road America.
season opener, now that it's NASCAR's season closer. put Milwaukee the week after Indy, the traditional date and then move RA to the date vacated by NASCAR over 4th of July. there, I just fixed Indycar's calendar.
Can someone explain how, with fresh tires and plenty of fuel, Ericson was unable to just blow past Powers?
I was watching this and the livestream of the RM Sotheby's auction from Monterey at the same time. I had the sound off of the race while listening to the auction. It seems like Newgarden is the top dog this year. I would be surprised if he doesn't win the championship this year Malukas made a balls out move to get by McLaughlin. Congratulation to him and Coyne Racing, the little team that could! On to Portland and their wild first chicane.
setup I guess, Malukus managed to do it.... last 2 races are going to be crazy. rain delays suck but I'm glad this race finished under the lights. Indycars on short ovals under the lights are incredible to watch. also, crowd seemed down significantly from the last 2 years, combination of weather and Cup race 2 months ago I guess.
They really need to get rid of Lee Diffy. As insufferable as he was back when he was broadcasting F1, his ridiculous over-enthusiasm and excited commentary every few minutes during IndyCar broadcasts is really wearing thin.
btw, today's big IndyCar news is Andretti is building a $200mm facility that looks remarkably like an F1 shop in Fishers (NE suburb of Indy). https://racer.com/2022/08/22/andretti-announces-plans-for-new-200m-hq/
That's like selling a Bear's skin before killing it. I really hope they get accepted by F1 but the opposition is very strong....
I'm not sure commenting on a driver's hairstyle is being a "jackass" but I'll have to mullet it over.
