Any new players coming to the market soon? I’m already thinking about a winter project. F430. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Why would you want a new player rather than the group that has done over 100 of these and has them down to a science and even CNC's the parts beyond factory spec? Timing?
Anyone? I’m looking for options and I seem to recall a few threads where people/companies were trying to bring something to market. IIRC, there was someone in the Atlanta area. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
We can do it in the Toronto area, and have three cars in line. Just gathering resources but should be ready to go within the next month or two. It's a far cry from Atlanta though...
Yeah, it would be an epic drive! However, I’m looking for someone doing a kit or closer to home. But thanks anyway and good luck with the conversions. rgds m
I heard the same. Accordingly I am working with a 3rd party for the install who are very familiar with the sole company that makes the ,conversion parts.
I totally agree they were the original (waits patiently for someone to come along and point out differently) but I don’t think they are the only….or soon will not be the only…chasing this market.
They made the market for it and through that trial and error, now have it down. Anyone coming along afterwards will have a big capital expense and several years of trial and error. If you are aware of someone copying their parts, you should make them aware that EAG probably has a patent on the designs, which is different than OEM.
Hey Kent. hopefully we can agree there is a market, they have a first mover advantage and move on. Whether a competitor arrives or not is a function of demand. As for the rest of your comments: Capital expense: probably, seems like a reasonable assumption depending on outsourcing. Trial and error: depends on too many factors. Others copying: I was asking who is the one company? For all I know, that may have been external to EAG. I’m simply asking about options. Rgds Mark
You may want to read this....This is before Eag...May 21 2017. F430 Conversion F1 to manual successfulhttps://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/f430-conversion-f1-to-manual-successful.552566/
Hey Kent, was there a link? It’s not showing on my phone. I’ll check later on a laptop, if you think the link is there.
Forget my last question. Link suddenly showed up. I have been chatting with Lorenzo, thank you for the link.
Wish granted They are not the original, as Lorenzo's post points out, and on their website, they don't say they are the original on their headliner (yes for the Scud, no for the F430) This is noteworthy as I read through his post before having mine converted and was inspired and realized it was possible to achieve my dream of a 6spd F430. I was, and am, extremely impressed that he not only figured it out, did it on his garage floor, but risked his F430 to do so. And now, he has done another in the same manner. There is certainly plenty of content on this topic of people doing conversions, and many experiences and opinions, positive and negative (mine are there as well). That aside, I wanted to plainly state the fact that (as far as I know) Lorenzo invented the conversion, and I'm glad he did, he started it all. Though he didn't do my conversion (wish he did), I still have him to thank. Thank you Lorenzo.
This has literally nothing to do with what I wrote. No one can patent the conversion process, it is the design of things like the shift tower etc I am referring to. This takes a lot of R&D. Did you go to EAG, or have someone else go on your behalf to EAG for some part of your latest conversion?
Seriously hoping this doesn't turn into another thread bashing EAG. I was simply asking if there are any other options. I am fully aware EAG is an option, I would like to attempt this myself as a winter project.
You'll need to source the components then from another source, including Ferrari and others where Ferrari either no longer sells the parts or there is a long production time. EAG only sells to their authorized installers now.
Kent, first off I mean no disrespect. After trial and error my 1st car was converted end of 2016 beginning of 2017 after i bought parts from a parted out f430 for 6k. I talked to art a few times after that bbecause he contacted me expressing interest. And then he took it from there which doesn't really matter to me. There will be no thread bashing from me. Im just saying a lot of trial and error came from me and then passing it on to eag. What he did from there doesnt matter. With that said my second car is converted from all oem parts just like my first car was. Aside from this, there is someone else that has made parts. 5 kits have been sold so far with 5 more ready to go now and 10 more kits being put together as we speak. With that said i appreciate all your inputs on the forum. Have a great day
