    Hello,

I’m currently in the process of purchasing a 2014 FF. So far the car has 9k miles and has the power train warranty extension for a yr. I was thinking of purchasing this car.

I’m buying the car from a Porsche/Mclaren dealership in Boston. I’m in houston, so I’m buying the car sigh unseen. I have the service records, but I’ll do inspection in houston with Ferrari of houston if I was to purchase the car.

I have spoken to the owner of the car who traded it in for 720s and he has told me that he was the 2nd owner and he took good care of the car. He did the oil change. But I’m get a bit of cold feet as I’m in shocked that I’m about to get an ff as I have been wanting one for a while since I have two small kids and one on the way. I’m getting the car for 168k. Is that a good price?

The Ferrari dealership in houston is thinking I might need to do a major annual service, since the previous dealership may not have done the 7 yr maintenance plan.

I didn’t do a ppi because of the warranty, but now I’m thinking maybe I should have gotten it. May be I’m overly thinking too much about it. Lol. I’m thinking that the worse case scenario I can sell/trade it if I don’t like it.

After writing this, I feel like this is a rant rather than me asking a question. Lol. But any input is greatly appreciated.

I think a PPI is well worth the investment. Purchased my 7000 mi, 2013 F12 sight unseen also with a fresh CPO warranty from a Ferrari dealer thinking the PPI was not necessary, but there were some minor electrical issues that ended up costing ~ $6k to fix, not covered by the CPO. Love the car & planning to keep it long term, but Fcar parts & maintenance can put a dent in your pocketbook.

Just an added note, what I thought was simply an annoying glitch with a seat heater message popping up on the display at startup turned out to be $4k electronic module that also operated the windshield wipers, 12v USB plug, etc. - things that I could have easily missed on a test drive and apparently didn't show up as a fault when my local Ferrari dealer hooked up their analyzer. The steering wheel rpm LEDs also weren't working and needed a proxy file update to correct. Just saying, any electronics that look a little buggy should be reported and could warrant a closer look.

I have had my FF for 10 years. Love the car - you will too. I would also look at the the leather dashboard and headliner to make sure there there is no shrinkage of the dashboard (very expensive to fix) and that the headliner is not sagging - minor items but worth checking for.

Yea, since I’m out of state I’m expecting the ppi at the Ferrari dealership to do this.

How was the spark plugs been? Is it something you guys change often?

these are the items my local Ferrari dealership would like to address when I get the car in houston, but I’m hoping that PPI that’ll be done in Boston will let me know what the car needs. :
    • Engine Oil & Filter
    • Brake Fluid Flush
    • Gearbox Fluid
    • DCT Fluid
    • Power Steering Fluid
    • Engine Coolant
    • PTU Fluid
    • Drive Belt Replacement
    • Cabin and Engine Air Filters
    • Ignition Coil Cleaning
    • Spark Plugs
    • Basic Visual Inspection

Who is doing the PPI, Ferrari of New England?

That was cleared up, the PTU is covered. Frankly, it's about the only thing that is covered.

The PPI is been done by Ferrari of New England. Why have you had a bad experience with them? Below is what Ferrari of houston told me the power train warranty covers:

No, but if you can ask them to have Brian Walsh do the inspection.

All I can say is that after the body computer node was replaced the faulty seat heater messages no longer appeared. The tech at Ferrari Scottsdale did a fairly lengthy write-up detailing how he determined that the module was faulty. I have to say, I was impressed with his approach to troubleshooting but disappointed that the replacement wasn't covered by the CPO warranty.

Might want to see how much life is left in the CCM discs, especially the rear ones.

I wouldn't do a ppi if the car has a power15 warranty. Plus, not sure what benefit it would have to get it done in Houston if the car is being purchased from Boston. If anything have the ppi done in Boston. The price is good and the spec list looks great.

    Any update on this purchase?
I am looking at the FF in Edison NJ. Spec list is OK, not great. Love the colors though, I'm a simple creature. Also included the carfax if you all want to give me your opinion.
My car I am looking at is listing for 10k more (178k), same year, 15k miles. How does this make sense?
OP, how much are you settling on this car ? Very interested to know.
    Thanks

Haha, sorry! I didn’t see this post as I saw the other one. I was thinking this was the red one in NJ. I think the price is a bit high as my ff has a better spec for lower price. I just did the ppi and it needs a oil change and brake flush. It has a leak, but they’re thinking it’s due to over filling so they’re monitoring the issue before it’s shipped to me. I think they should lower the price to 160 range.

Okay, I’m surprised that Ferrari dealership isn’t cpo the car automatically. I was thinking you’re buying from a non Ferrari dealership. Lol.
