Sold Patek Philippe 5980/1A Nautilus White Dial, Mint & Full Set

From my understanding the white dial was produced only for 2 years, and the 5980 line in SS has been discontinued from Patek Philippe

Condition is 9.9/10 mint with one faint hairline that I can't even photograph in pictures on the polished side of the bezel at 6 o'clock, otherwise can't detect any signs of wear

Full set, includes:
Outer and inner box, velvet box sleeve, polished wood box, leather brochure holder, warranty paper, marketing materials (museum info, registry etc), manual, sealed pusher pen, and full links with ceramic sleeves and pins (not screws)

2013 model

Keeps good time (not accuracy tested), all functions (date + chrono) working

Did anyone ever wonder how much it actually costs to make this watch by manufacturer?

 

It's a well-kept secret, but to give you an idea, Hermès recurring operating margin for the first half of 2022 is 42%.

 

That's interesting, but I would think the margins on textile and leather goods would be far greater than those on a highly complicated, hand-assembled mechanical device like a watch. Also don't forget that list price on a 5980 - especially back in 2013 - was nowhere near the market price today.

I used Hermès because their textile and leather goods are of exceptional quality and are hand-assembled by highly qualified artisans, exactly as Rolex, and, like Rolex, they very tightly control their distributors (and they make watches too).
