..her not here. Please @rob lay @El Wayne and all @moderators consider extending the ridiculously short 20 minute edit time limit. Thank you.

please proofread your posts within the ridiculously long 20 minutes and if not just post a followup correction. if you want write a book or magazine article to be perfect, oh wait those end up riddled with corrections too months later.

I do proof read my posts but often have to post from a small phone with eye sight that isn't what it was and my fingers are getting fat, so miss the typos etc. I can only see/notice them when I view from a computer screen later.

Judging from your post above you do not care about English grammar or lack English grammar knowledge. It doesn't seem very important to you at all, but to some of us it really is. 20 minutes is way too short. I don't see why you can't extend the time limit to 24 hours, or at the very minimum 2 hours, so those of us that do take a bit of pride in our posts can edit any typos/mistakes.

The only other automobile forum I post in, The Nostalgia Forum of Autosport.com permits editing and even deleting, I think, without time limits. I’m not advocating it, just mentioning it for information. On the other hand TNF (and presumably the other forums supported by that site) has the most unnecessarily difficult (for me) picture posting procedure that I know of.

On FChat I notice that some misspelled words don’t get the red underline, so the writer’s attention might not be directed to them. (This could be a function of my device rather than the forum’s protocols, I honestly don’t know).

I am usually able to get in an edit within the time limit, but not always, and it can be frustrating when the deadline is missed.

If the screen size is an issue then we recommend waiting until you are at a desktop. I know that helps me.

I know I've edited a number of your posts per your request so it may make sense to wait for more screen real estate to post.

As another option, write it in notepad on your phone and then take the time to edit there before posting. There are reasons for a time limit on editing and 20 minutes has worked out very well.

If you take pride in your posts, proofread them BEFORE hitting "Post Reply". There is unlimited time to edit and review before submitting.

If you can't read your phone screen clearly then wait until you can read a computer screen. A thoughtful, considered reply that you can clearly read would be more in keeping with your stated "pride" in your own content.

We have reasons for having the edit time window that is set and out of 200,000 users, just a handful have problems with the time limit. Your complaints have solutions, but it requires that you take personal responsibility for how you post, without demanding a policy or rules change for everyone else.

Integrity of the reply chain. There are 2 types of edits: ones that correct typography, spelling, or grammar, and ones that change the meaning of the post. Some users will do the second, even going as far as reversing the meaning or deleting their post entirely, as users innocently reply to what they first read. A short edit window minimizes the effect of those incidents.

Rob just demonstrated how that might feel in his reply to you above. Content change edits create a real "WTF, that isn't what it said?!" moment.

He edited both his and your post. His edit of his was what I was referring to. His edit of yours has been reverted, so that you can see how different the original and edit was.
