It really depends on what you are looking for..
My biased opinion is this: if you're wanting to show off with an underpowered screaming car, go for the 458; if you're interested in the magic of a Ferrari V12 (and don't care about what other people will think), go for the F12...

At 20 I would probably have died driving a 730hp RWD car like the F12, which I own today. I’m certainly a better driver now at 56 than I was 35 years ago, and I’m sure that applies to most of us.

I worked my way up car-wise, but this level of performance wasn’t an option 30+ years ago, either. If it was, and I could’ve afforded it, I probably would’ve done so…. Just not sure I would’ve survived.

This post won’t likely alter your decision, so my advice, if you get an F12, is to take lots of time feeling out the car and it’s immense capabilities.

Congratulations on being 20 years old and having money to blow on a six-figure car. I assume you’re set as far as real estate and that your savings/retirement planning are also flush. If so, you’re ready to get into cars. Given current prices, I wouldn’t consider cars a great investment. So…

IMHO, the mid-engined Ferraris are the closest in spirit to its F1 competition heritage, and fun to drive. My choices would be a 328, F430 or 458. The 328 is classic and reliable, but slow by modern standards, simple, and has the traditional three-pedal manual gearbox. The others are much faster but also more complex, so potentially more costly to maintain. Lots of information here in the Model Specific discussions.

Thank you for the answer and in glad to hear that you are driving a F12. Its also cool to hear that you had to uppgrade to end up with a F-12.

My driving skills are above average and im fully aware of how hard a F-12 can be to drive. Ive considered applying for extra courses.

Ive dreamed of owning a Ferrari from age of 2. This is my own money and I come from a family that has nothing. Ive worked nonstop for 8 years now just so i can make this dream happen. I just wanted to make that clear so you dont think im not appriciating the car. Its been my life long dream.

looking is one thing driving is another. most is subjective so you really need seat time. also, this topic is covered extensively in posts so do your research. it will really help.

Thank you! Ive worked nonstop 8 years to be in this position. Real estate, savings and retirement is in box. I dont use much money. I dont like fancy things, etc. Very regular person with love for Ferrari.

I know cars arent a great investment. Getting a Ferrari is about enjoying life for me and since i dont spend money on other things i have money left.

I havent decided yet if i want to go twin turbo V8 or V12. What im more concerned about is the maintenance because im going to use the car and actually put a lot of millage on it. Ive understood that the V12´s can be harder to drive and that they require more care because of engine size.? (this is my first car) I can drive but be aware that its my very first car.

Im going to look more into the models you mentioned (specially F430). Let me know if you have any other tips or recommendations to share. Everything is appriciated. Thank you so much!

Personally..I wouldn't be buying anything. The current market is going to tank..so hold tight..and wait it out for a year. The turn has already started. People are dumping luxury items at the same speed interest rates are climbing. Another rate hike is set for this month.

Be smart. I bought my first Ferrari when I was 23. Mind you it was when you could buy testarossas for 35 grand..those times will return..they always do.

In the mean time..save and enjoy some travel and fine dining..honestly both are much better then a car.

This. The market for modern high line cars is arguably at a peak now. I would take my time and let prices settle. If you’re 20, you’ve got time.

Do you think thats a bad or good thing? Turbos makes often the car faster right but it makes the engine do "less work" so it wont sound as good and it doesnt use the motor to is full potential right?

Which is one of the many reasons they are a) awesome - b) very sought after - c) will retain and possibly increase in value d) the best-sounding V8 Ferrari since the 355

    Cheers :)
