I have signed employment agreements that when interpreted as the company would have liked would have implied that if they taught me to read and write that I would have to forget how to read and write when I left their employ. Like not being able to unsee certain things, certain things cannot be obeyed in contractual disputes..
The costs of AlpineF1Team Piastri costs order: more than half a million. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, Piastri just went down a team notch going with Mclaren. I suppose he thought Nando was going to be there next year as well. Alpine's upper management looks a bit daff.
I think so. They took Alonso and Piastri for granted and never saw this coming. How to lose 2 drivers in one go !! Lessons to be learn for other teams, I guess.
Piastri has made a HUGE mistake, McClunken are rubbish and Renault WILL produce a good car. Dan should have stayed at Renault , the McLaren is just a poor car
Pretty funny though. With their own dicking abou of alonso they didn't lose 1 driver, but 2! And had to pay the lawyer cost on top of it all....lol
The problem (over here in USA) is that the people making $5,000 per hour are making a case to the people making $25 and hour that the people making $12 per hour are the problem.
Should be interesting to see how he handles the Mclaren clunker, Mclaren with Zak aren't making that dumpster fire do any better

At this point, if he's anything short of spectacular (read: the second coming of Senna), everyone is going to hate him within a single season. My 17 year old son has seen "Pastry" race as he follows the lower series. I asked him why he would subject himself to that.
I think the dust will soon settle on this "affair". I hope Piastri does well, and rewards McLaren for the trust they put in him. Alpine and Szafnauer don't come out smelling of roses in this: they tried to force Piastri to drive for them when they had no right. As a parallel, I remember young Ricardo Patrese being universally reviled for being falsely accused of dangerous driving and causing the accident that brought the death of Ronnie Peterson at Monza. The drivers threatened to go on strike unless he was suspended from racing! Some organisers wanted to ban him from F1. An enquiry exonerated him finally. Many years later, Patrese was still in F1 like an elder stateman, leading in succession Brabham and then Williams teams, much liked by his peers and respected by the public for his mild mannered attitude.
It does make you wonder why some drivers are tolerated in spite of their bad results. Andrea de Cesaris wasn't nicknamed "de Crasheris" for nothing! But he hung around for a long time.
I disagree with this. Piastri had ZERO business addressing this situation personally. His Management should have!! The fact they let him speak is perplexing!! Piastri truth shows criticism of him in F1 contract saga was "unfair", says McLaren McLaren says criticism aimed at Oscar Piastri for turning his back on the Alpine Formula 1 team has been shown to be "unfair" by the facts coming out.
