355 Missing 355’s (U.S) from the 355 Registry

It’s very disappointing of Rob. I spent a long time gathering information and trying to post maintenance details of my car twice to the registry, after seeing that it wasn’t being updated. I finely contacted Rob receiving the same answer. No time to update. Rob should let someone else take it over.

 

Here are 21 additional missing North American Berlinettas and GTSes:

(There is a duplicate 1995 Berlinetta Manual entry in the Registry - ZFFPR41A6S0100868 - Rosso Corsa over tan). I haven't looked for additional duplicates.

1995:

1995 GTS Manual - ZFFPR4ZB000102602 - NJ Salvage due to Hurricane Sandy. Was Black, then painted white with a black interior.


1996:

1996 GTS Manual - ZFFXR42A3T0105932 - Clean Title Nero Carbonio Metallic over Red/Black Sport Seats with 29k miles.


1997:

1997 Berlinetta Manual - ZFFXR41A1V0107893 - Florida Salvage with 35k+ miles as of 2014. FChat post, but no other info.

1997 Berlinetta Manual - ZFFXR41A1V0107683 - Blue Salvage sold with entire interior stripped and front end damage in 2021.

1997 Berlinetta Manual - ZFFXR41A1V0109045 - Avus Bianco over tan Salvage. Front end accident plus rear end damage with 29,522 miles. Sold in 2021.


1997 GTS Manual - ZFFXR42A9V0108238 - Rosso Fiorano/Rubino? over tan Salvage. Considerable damage overall, not repairable. Unknown mileage. Sold 2018

I’m not understanding the purpose of this thread. Is Rob going to use his information and update his registry website?

 

I think it's being used as an Addendum to the Registry. It's good to have a reference in addition to the Registry for future sales and production data. I'm personally not interested in Spiders, so I didn't search for Salvage or previous sales. @ShineKen that's all you!

I went through the Classic.com info (VIN's posted at the top of just about every link) and searched for previous Copart/IAAI/Geico sales, but they only go back about 5 years. I have a feeling that many more cars were Salvaged/parted out after accidents/flood damage during the Great Recession when these cars were barely worth anything.

 

I understand your frustration but we can't be too mad. If it weren't for him there wouldn't be any registry.
The problem is once you make it you are now a slave to it for the rest of your life.

 

Guys I just want understand your wish, do you want know all "North American 355 type" even if some were sold new outside USA or you want to know all 355 registered in US, even those come from Europe for example ?

 

We are trying to figure out how many total 355s were originally sold in the U.S. From there, it will be helpful to know the break down of B/GTS/Spider and by year, color, and transmission. CF sport seats would be the next option, which I've been working on for overall production. I have only 9 U.S. spec factory manual cars originally optioned with the CF seats in my database.

I am a former owner of an Alfa Romeo 4C and there is a guy named John who cracked the code on VINs. For example, we now know how many were imported into the U.S. and Canada and how many Coupes were specced in pearl white with a carbon fiber roof and Akrapovic Exhaust in 2018. Chrysler has a window sticker lookup, which makes it easier to view options. Ferrari production data has long been elusive, but we can probably figure out the mix of 355s.

 

@bertrand328 If you look up a former Lamborghini salesman turned VinWiki entrepreneur named Ed Bolian, you'll see that he compiled a list of the manual transmission Murcielago LP640s. He proved how rare they are and prices have skyrocketed as a result.

While our cars aren't as rare as manual Murcielago LP640s, they are still extremely rare in the overall collector car market and are undervalued as a result. I've been tracking mostly emerging collector cars for years and have over 800 different models from A-Z with production #s for just about every one. All it takes is 1 outlier sale to spike the market for one car model. The TDF Blue GTS auction currently on Bring a Trailer will open up any collector's eyes and naysayers still stuck in 2019 pricing or worried about mileage/Carfax dings.

 

@Closingtime @ShineKen Of course you know that it's a very long time to manage a serious registry. I try do mine ( about 328 ) and know others ( very few ) who do same.
That said you are lucky because many information from US car are easy to get. IMHO you can first look at FML issue since 1995 and you will find lot of datas which have been verified ( not as those you can find on the web or "quick" registry )

Indeed the result of the BaT auction will be interesting. Especially for the European who look at the US market since few months and saw crazy price compare to Euro market

 

This car was offered in 2004 & 2005 in FML as Yellow ...

 

There is alot of info that has yet to be processed for the 355 cars. I just don't have the time. The 355 registry is for sale, if someone wants to take it over and spend the time it needs to be updated.
