So let’s say you were crazy enough to decide to collect one of the better examples of each Corvette series, what would you choose? Just musing over some bourbon here on a Friday night. I’m not talking about super esoteric limited edition and race cars, but good example of each series main cars for enjoyable driving.
Haven’t got a great idea yet but thinking:

C1: ‘59-62. Manual tranny. White/red exterior (or black/red) with red interior.
C2: ‘65 Stingray convertible. Silver with red interior. Manual.
C3: ‘69 convertible. Red exterior, Black interior. Manual.
    C4: ‘90-92. Coupe. Or...ZR1. Black interior. Manual.
C5: ‘00 Z06 coupe. Manual. Red exterior. Black interior.
    C6: ? Year. Z06. Coupe. Manual.
C7: ‘19 Grand Sport Coupe. Black cherry exterior. Tan interior. Manual.
    C8: Z06. Red/black exterior. Tan interior.

Crazy thing is, selling one V12 Ferrari (812 GTS) could pay for the entire collection and then some.

In general the last year of everything past the C5 would be my target if I were planning to drive them.

The first three generations are not much fun when compared to the C4 and later. The early C4 Z51 cars had a good stiff spring rate and shocks that was softened up unfortunately the second year of release.
If you plan on having fun with these cars pull the stock seats and store them.

    C2: ‘67 BB coupe
    C3: ‘69 BB Coupe
C4: ‘96 Grand Sport coupe w/red interior or possibly a double Dunn head 1995 ZR-1 (any color but black)
    C5: ‘04 Z06 coupe-blue Commemorative Edition
C6: 2012 ZR1Coupe in Inferno Orange (would take 2012 Z06 coupe in Carlisle Blue as well)
C7: ‘19 Sebring Orange ZR1 Coupe. Manual. (Really any Sebring Orange manual coupe (GS or Z06) would do)
C8: Z06. Probably in Silver over Dipped Red interior?

I've been thinking of moving into the Corvette world for a while. While waiting for a C8 Z06, I was looking around at the the C6 and C7. Just found out about the 2013 C6 427. The reason it's appealing to me is that it has the same LS7 that the C6 Z07 has, but it's a convertible and only sold in manual. I'm not sure if you know, but the C6 never made a convertible Z06 or one that's a targa top. Aside from the steel frame, the 427 is basically a convertible C6 Z06. The appeal is also that it's the higher revving v8. I think that'd be a good one for your line up.

I’d want a split window coupe, a big block ‘very, and probably a clean driver C2 for the classic. ZR1 from C4-c7. C7 Z should have aero pack and manual. C5 and C6 Z06. If you can find the carbon package for the C6 Z06 that’d make it all the better.

Mitchell Stingray would be nice when GM goes all-electric. Otherwise, all of the above, a Scaglietti, an original Grand Sport, a '67 L-88 a '69 ZL-1, a Three Musketeers, and a ball point pen, and one of those combs there, a pint of Old Harper and then this thing ...

Thank you so much for the link to the Callaway C4 Project. I've seen several as shows. They have actual miles on them. They are never for sale.

You beat me to the C4 GS suggestion.

Another good C6 option would be the 427 convertible with the Z06 Carbon package.

As been said for the C4 either a 95 ZR1 or 96 Grand Sport w/red interior but a convertible. There wasn't a 00 C5 Z06. It was '01 but avoid that one. As stated go '04 comm ed. Something not said yet on the C6 is the one year only '13 427 vert which will be highly desirable. Or a Z07/Z06 is rare same as the stated colors on the ZR1. On the C7 if you get a ZR1 get a manual. Quiet rare.

I would get survivor quality cars from each iteration prior to focusing on rarity of motor choice. Here are my picks.

C1 - not much choice here
    C2 - survivor 427/435 or 427/390
    C3- survivor 1970 LT-1 and a 1968-69 big block/1971 LS6
    C4 - LT-4 grand sport and ZR1
    C5 - 02-04 Z06
    C6 - ZR1
    C7 - ZTK ZR1 manual

Some of the iterations have pretty cool colors such as Riverside Gold (1969) or Goodwood Green (1967).

Great idea I once had a great corvette collection with up to 20 or more corvettes owned over 40

C1 : while I was never a big fan there are some RARE cars but maybe start with a 57 fuelie…

C2: well obviously 1:a 63 split window with my chioce would be a 327/340 but you could go with a Big tank ZO6 …
    Then a 65 425/396
    A 67 435/427
A 67 L88 but these are big dollars well into the 7 figures
    C3 Several come to mind a 1968 or 69 L88 or to save some money a 427/435
A 1970 zr1 and maybe Zr2 or one of the very very rare ZL1 one of only 2 made a member here own one of these
    Or maybe 1970 LT1 or a 1971 Ls6 the list goes on

c4 My choice is the 1996 grand sport with red interior maybe a coupe and a conv in this color combo nothing else
    Gotta go now back later
Bottom line lots of great corvette worth any where from 35 k to several million lot of fun

C6. Lots of good ones but. Gotta have aZO6 they made many a few special editions only one that is a good one is the. 2013 white with grey stipe special edtion get one of the. In a ZR1,ZO6 and of cousre the best of all the 2013 white 427 convertible one year only with blue interior amd grey stripe I THINK THESE WERE THE 60th ANIVERSARY edition i had one of each but sold them …but of all theses cars the one iwant to buy back or again is the 2013 white blue 427 convertible

I was never a fan of the C7 no real reason just not my thing…
Have fun they are all great and truthfully its one car I pretty much made money on everyone I owned and still love them all
I still have some pretty coolexamples but only a few

C1: I'm not a straight axle guy but I guess I would say a 1957 FI airbox car.
C2: The greatest generation. 1963 Z06 tanker, 1967 L88(a real car, original chassis and body at the very least).
    C3: 1969 L88 or ZL1, 1971-2 ZR1, ZR2
I stopped paying attention after 1972.
Skip forward to C6, several models to choose from.
C7: I agree with LARRYH, never cared for the way they look.

    My 2 cents.

I haven't kept up with C2 values but $235,000 seems good to me for a non-numbers matching car. Am I crazy?

The "big body" C7's (GS/Z06/ZR1) had too much black plastic stuff tacked on, I thought they looked cheap. The C7 Stingray was, IMO, a very nice looking car.
