It will be some laps on a 1.3 mile road course. I’ve never driven a Ferrari (current 911 GTS owner) but my grail car is a 458. Would love any input based on this. Thx

Easy choice… 488 all day long.

I agree, very easy choice for renting on a racetrack. Get the newest and fastest. For owning and road driving the decision is always more nuanced

    F430!
Make your first Ferrari experience driving an N/A!
Your dream Ferrari is a 458, pure N/A. So the F430 will deliver the excitement you've come to expect from this experience.
Also, if you've never driven a Ferrari, and the ride is short, you won't use the 488's performance.
What generation is your 911 GTS?

If it's just renting on a road course, they choice is easy. Do one after the other. 100% what I'd do.

Unless the 430 is a stick, and that's your schtick, the 488 all day long.

Are you referring to the track that you can see from the freeway? The one right next to the freeway? I’ve always wanted to stop there and drive a 488.

a 911 GTS is no slow poke! A 911 on a track with the right driver is a special experience. As for your Ferrari drive, I owned a 488 and its a great car. It'll definitely provide a full Ferrari experience!

    997. Terrific car but PDK (which I like most of the time)
Did the 488 and the experience went by fast. Can’t say I enjoyed the car as much as I’d hoped. The F430 had an insane exhaust sound compared to everything else there. Turns out it had an aftermarket exhaust. I’m not a total Porsche fanboy but the GT3 sound was something else. The 488 seemed muted and I wondered if they have some kind of regulator on it not allowing it to be fully exploited

Yes I remember at the Frankfurt Motor Show shortly after the 488 launch. I was walking to the hall along the main road from the station and what looked like 3 facelifted 458s drove past, and first instinct was, what’s wrong with the exhausts? Then remembered 488 and move to Turbo.

it will be sad when it happens to the V12s.

If your dream car is 458 rent that. If they don't have that 430 might be closer because its N/A but it is single clutch. I am sure either would be a kick in the pants.

Another note. In hindsight, I feel like it would’ve been a better experience to have a car to myself and just drive around rather than on the road course where I’m not used to having a helmet on, there’s an instructor beside me, yelling instructions in a heavy accent to where it was hard to understand what he’s saying, and mostly the fact that I am not an experienced track driver to know proper lines and brake zones.
