Four doors, and four seats as well. Back in 2011 when I saw it in Modena. I really liked it!

Ok, but, it has never been done before, not even by Lamborghini (whose annual V12 sales are about 50% of Ferrari's) in the past decade...

and, once the "price reality" of a half-million dollar SUV "is realized" (options+taxes matter too..) some of those orders may drop off...and, at least in the USA, I wonder how many dealers will require another model to be ordered before the customer is allowed to order the FUV...in other words, Ferrari may never realize the demand for 15,000

I can understand all the hate online for this FUV and I too was ready to jump on the bandwagon depending on launch pics and how it looked. BUT, I can't.... and actually, I LOVE IT!
But again, I understand that if someone wanted to buy a Ferrari and it was going to be your one and only, for most - this won't be it. On the other hand, if you have a handful of sports cars already, this is the most refreshing thing I've seen in a long while! Urus can't touch this IMO! This might just be the best "SUV" on the market.

A big thank you to Mario @MDEL and all the other thread contributors. I love to see the passion and I find it fun to discuss.

My take- its all about what captures your imagination. If it doesn’t then no need to apologize to anyone. Its always a mix of objective and subjective.

I love the car, it looks elegant and not aggressive. No crazyness. Although it is a big car, it doesn't look that big, mostly thanks to the pretty design. Stunning proportions.
I did attend the presentation Tuesday evening in Lajatico at Teatro del Silenzio and there were close to 1'000 people including a number of major collectors, from all over the world, many from USA, India, China, Japan, Arab countries, South America, Europe. It was very impressive. They had four new Purosangues there: A white metallic one with blue seats, a Rosso Portofino one, a Grigio Titanio one and one in the new Nero Purosangue (black).
It is clear that the wheel arches need the full carbon fiber surroundings and not the cheap looking standard plastic. Also great is the carbon fiber roof. Engine sound is excellent, btw. Interior design is good and I like the fact that the rear seats are singles and not some funny bench for three. Rear seats can be folded down. I did talk to many of the guests and nobody said anything negative about the car and their first impressions during and after the presentation were all very positive. The technology appears to be first class with many new ideas and solutions.
This is a new generation Ferrari, and a big step into the future. It is neither an SUV nor an FUV, this clearly is a crossover, a massively improved GTC4 Lusso.
I like it. Fchatter miurasv posted some of my photos I took Tuesday nite, a few pages earlier, I think. Thanks Steve!

    Grazie Signore,

I appreciate your wealth of knowledge. I agree with you. Enzo ultimately gave the thumbs down; from what I understood, he did not like it not because of the idea of it but because of the cost and low quality of the prototype/study.

I don't know; I fully admit I'm quoting hearsay as, obviously, I was not in the room. I only could rely on second-hand accounts, specifically Forza Magazine's (August 2010) "Geppetto's Dream."

The article claims Enzo supported the prototype and was initially enthusiastic.

That Ghidella doomed the production by showing they didn't have enough money to support it. (ironically enough, a big side topic of this thread.)

The article also claims that Fioravanti thought Enzo's ultimately nixed it because of the lower quality of any resultant vehicle. "Faults" were accepted in sporting cars but not in luxury cars.

May I ask if you can ask your friend if he agrees with Forza's account? Thank you!

    Ciao e grazie

Thank you. What is written about anyone is not always correct. E.F. asked directly to Rossano during a friendly speech "should we do that car?" Rossano answered "yes", as he liked the Pinin prototype. But Enzo was very doubtful, he didn't like sedans, so he told "never and never". I think E.F. did the right thing as 42 years ago the world was very different and probably would have not likek too much such a car. Different times, different taste: now the world is getting crazy for this five doors Purosangue.

    Ciao

    Grazie Signore,

You are right; I am wrong here. Thank you for correcting me. I'm also grateful for this video. Amazing. Appreciate you sharing.

I especially enjoyed how the video answered my questions about why Enzo ultimately said no.

As Forza reported, it was cost and quality. I can understand that. I wish there was more written about what it took to convince Enzo to give the okay on the prototype. Did they do it behind his back?

    Kindest regards.

Thank You, Mr. Massini, for your insights.

There is much banter and fun here; I believe that in the end, we are all here with a shared appreciation for the house of Maranello. (well not all)

I have profound respect for your knowledge and expertise. Appreciate your photos and perspective. That said, nobody should doubt your background in the Ferrari world.

Nobody bats 1000, and folks will cheer when Micheal Jordan misses as much as dunks. I think it is because we know you have direct knowledge that people are surprised by some miscalls. That doesn't change the fact that when you talk, many folks should shut up and listen.

    Kindest Regards

I only told you what I have been told by this friend: it's always a pleasure to share a story with other enthusiast.

    Ciao

    PS
The picture below comes from a friend (a lady, Giovanna Montorsi, you can see her signature together with the others ) who published it on FB: she helped in the event management, at Marzaglia track near Modena. I wasn't there, however.

In the report, they said no more than 20%, Given we're on track for ~13K this year, that yields about 2,500 max - put another way, half of what Lamborghini sold of Urus last year.

Well, given that I love the 365/400/412 series and the Mondial. It makes sense that I love this car.

I'm afraid I have to disagree entirely; it's been my experience that "time is kind to all Ferrari."

If the $132K paid for a mistake called a Mondial last month is any indication.

I rather have a manual 400 than many other cars. If both are mistakes, well - give me an F-.

P.S. I'm sure you'll be quite popular in the 365/400/412 series and Mondial forums here,

    :)
