From what I have read, the front wheels are driven in the same manner as the Lusso. ie a clutch at the front of the engine.
If so, that is disappointing for an all-weather taller vehicle.
I find that the front wheels on my Lusso get very little torque applied to them, such that when I accelerate quickly on dry or slippery surfaces, the rear always breaks loose, as though no meaningful torque is being directed to the front.
In fact when I first bought the car, I had it back at the dealer to confirm that my front wheels were indeed being driven. The dealer told me that the maximum torque that can be diverted to the front is only 20%.
Has anyone heard if the system has been redesigned for the Purosangue to allow a greater amount of torque to the front, and to apply it earlier, before slippage has already been sensed?
I did read, that like the Lusso, the fronts are only driven in the first 4 gears.
    Thanks

Personally I find the 456 to be the nicest looking Ferrari 2+2 and has aged extremely well

How much time do you personally spend on the floor turning wrenches in an autoshop? How much time do you spend trying to solve a first world problem?

Have you ever tried to figure out why the entrance tilt..seat retract system for a Bentley doesn't operate? Have you ever repaired a poor seat belt assist system? How about a key fob problem?

It's us people that have to repair this gimmick garbage that you seem to forget. When you flush your toilet..you don't think about it. But when that turd is now on you bathroom floor and water is flooding your Basement..who ya gonna call?

Curious why all the PS threads are in the not model specific group. Can’t we add ps to the 812,FF, lusso forum? Or am I doing something dumb on my end where it is for others?

Apparently Rob doesn't think it warrants its own subforum yet. It would be much easier to keep track of the information.

    Average in terms of performance?

If Toyota made a production V12 with 725 cavallo vapore and put suicide doors on it, the whole world would be talking about it.

LF-A may have been out of line for them and a slow seller, but it is a product of its time and is indisputably a future classic for them. I’m glad they went for it, I’m glad it exists, it doesn’t harm the legacy of Prius. You could still buy all the Prius you want.

Unless it was 2008, and Prius was hard to get.

You don’t have to repair anything.

For a long time already Bentley have sealed headlight assemblies that don’t require your repairing them. I don’t have a whole lot of sympathy for anyone hanging on to VAG parts bin engineered products outside of warranty. You take your lumps if that’s what you want to do.

And if that’s your beef, that’s a little too self centered don’t you think? Do you feel you’re getting pushed out by the complexity? Is the only valid Ferrari the one you can wrench on? Or that I can wrench on? I don’t get where this is going. Can you clarify your point?

Dunno why. While some people may view these as similar, that’s really not a concern imo. Some people can’t discern one car from the next if they’re the same color, others if they both have four doors. Not really the audience. Plus, who cares when this thing cranks out over 700hp and sounds like it does! I’m looking forward to getting it and expect it’ll be great to drive.

What? You mean empirically average, or just that you don’t like it so that makes it “average”? I’m not sure what your estimation of average is besides you personally not liking it. What are you talking about?

If you want a 4 door 4 seater, what’s not average to you? Cullinan or Urus less average? Is Tahoe less average? Would you have that in your garage instead? You’re on Fchat, let’s face it, for a high quality conversation ideally we are all actual Fcar buyers, otherwise we’re the kid on the side of the playground yelling his opinions about what everyone else is doing, but not playing himself. Probably upset that he’s not involved.

Life doesn’t give out participation trophies. Who really cares about what that kid thinks.

yeah but then to 200km/hr it's slower. It feels like they did the minimum to ensure that at least the 0-100km/hr was better than the Lusso, but that's about it. Top speed takes a hit too, probably because of the much shorter gearing needed to get the 0-100km/hr to 3.3. Even from the FF to the Lusso, the difference was .3sec from 0-100km/hr. And right now in this category, it is not uncommon to see cars in the very low 3s.... So I do feel the performances are somewhat short of what we could have expected.

You can use the touchscreen with the Lusso, Portofino, and even the Roma now that Carplay can be displayed on the main screen and not the dash.

I used to agree but over the last few years I have found that the 456 wheel base is too small for its size, and that bothers me more and more.

I agree, the power of the Purosangue V12 is less than the expected 800 hp that I presume would have made it easier to reach 0-100 Km/h in 3.0 -3.1 seconds.

That’s commensurate with the price of the car. How much is an air strut for an S class or a Bentley?

Hint: it’s proportionally around the same price.

Don’t buy a once pricey now cheap older car if you can’t afford the maintenance. This should go without saying here. What are you bellyaching about exactly?

I would have also liked to see the power output and redline from the 812 or 812 comp.

yeah I feel like the 812's would have been sufficient to make you feel like you are getting an upgrade. I understand if they want to keep the Competizione's engine more exclusive, also because the torque value was a bit down.

It also makes me think they are detuning knowing these will be driven many more miles than 812 comps, with shorter trips, in more traffic.

With all the uncertainty around the V12 line, which still continues, it is in the cards for a mid cycle update of some sort.

Ferrari has done what it always does- just enough power/performance to just best the current crop of competitors out there but it gets obsolete before the manufacturing run is over. Then they goose it with a VS version to keep production going for another year or two then repeat the above sequence. It’s like wash, rinse, repeat ad Infinitum.
On a rare occasion the powers that be at Ferrari have a seizure and put out a ground breaking product. It could be an off road super car, or a rocket propelled fusion featherweight hypercar for the masses- if you do it every Ferrari enthusiast will be indebted to you for another generation.
Come on Ferrari! We know you have the ability/ money/ engineering to do it but do you have the desire née chutzpah to do it?
