Yikes! That is terrible luck with those G’s. Mine has just over 10k miles atm and hasn’t had any issues so far (crossing fingers).
30k miles on both?!? Ok, I’m just gonna back peddle here and concede haha! o_O

What are the US dealers telling you?

Full disclosure: Invited to put a deposit down numerous months ago and signed an 18 month first right of refusal. Told at the time those who were “invited” by Ferrari to put a deposit down will be the only ones that get the car with a V12. (Confirmed with several others that gave deposits at other dealers)

After reveal and confirmed with other friends that were not “invited” but went to their local dealer not the same as my local dealer but also confirmed by my dealer:

. 4 year production run. All with be V12.
. Production will not exceed 20% of all Ferraris produced in the 4 year period.
. If you want to order one deposit is $30k
. Must sign a 24 month right of first refusal.
.Those “invited” will be first to get allocations.
.US base price expected between $340 and $360 ( before options)

Others can comment on this but would this be the largest production V12 model Ferrari will have ever produced? If so - not very exclusive.

Seems like they are going to follow the well honed playbook that Ferrari perfected with the 812 GTS. Keep supply tight for the first two years to give the illusion of exclusivity and driving resale prices above MSRP and then take orders for as much as the market can absorb in the last two years and keep the production on (with the order books closed) for extra year or two to fulfil all orders.
Truly surprised (not a negative comment, more Ferraris is a good thing in my book :)) by how many GTSs Ferrari has pushed out in the past two years. In the end the number of GTSs produced might be closer to SFs than I would have guessed initially.

While there are very brief similarities, so too have there been similarities between past Ferrari models and other cars. There is the oft cited similarity to Corvette- this was especially prevalent when they revealed the F12. Does anyone make that comparison today?

I think this is like your favorite rock group making a new song, and sure it sounds similar to the other songs on the radio, they all feature a drum beat and electric guitar, maybe some synth… or whatever other music you like, doesnt have to be rock, but over time, you will forget the others, and your favorite group’s music will still be classic. (Hopefully you have good taste in music).

I think Mr.Mayor is right there is always a good amount of red mist, but, this is Ferrari Chat… and on the other side, there is a lot of angst- all about something that no one has been able to drive yet. Something tells me this drives a whole lot better than whatever it is in that pic…

Lap times are interesting, but these are super powerful luxury GTs…. You’re looking at a true 4 seater with 4 passenger doors that will probably not just keep up with an F12 (the prior flagship) but in most typical driver hands’, I would imagine they will be faster in the PS).

I would like to have the benefit of hindsight before I judge too harshly- anyway from where I sit, it looks to me that Ferrari nailed it .

Finally, it would be nice to have a separate forum. There are separate forum for 296 and SF90. And why there is no Icona forum doesnt make any sense to me.

Yes...emotion while driving...the feel....the incredible feeling of being part of a mystery, of a family...of car history...all that plays a too little role here if any. Probably some of the absurd agressive negative critics have never touched a steering wheel of such cars. I will love chaseing through the mountains in summer from one alp pass to another...listening to my "open" exhaust 12 Cyl....just as I did a week ago in my RED 812 GTS...and I know I will have similar fun, partly because I am aware I am driving a very special FERRARI...which to encounter on the same road is either very rarely or a reason to stop and have a drink together...all that doesn't count in numbers...but it counts for me....and to be "pregnant" with a Ferrari, meaning ...having one in the pipeline....is a great way of being pregnant for a man....., looking forward to configuration, an adventurous time with my wife....to come to a common solution...same as we chose names for our kids :)...I do not want to exaggerate....but by the way....in case I am not as happy as I foresee it....other brand owners will pray to get mine second hand...analog, naturally aspirated, 12 cyl. 6,5 l.....und never available before....

How can you say something is boring, not having touched it, entered it, heard it in person, sat in it...pushed it from 0-60 and took the first curves with it? your opinion, fine have it, for me...just theory.

Something can be boring visually yet still be an incredible performing machine. Perhaps the OP was referring to the design only? I don't want to speak for him but I also share the opinion that the exterior design just doesn't move the needle.

Some advice my friend, the fact you keep quoting the Ring' sort of will make you stand out from real 'pure' racers you so seek as a noob. Every race engineer knows that a car tuned for the Ring' often leaks time elsewhere, so to elevate it as some sort of universal benchmark (as many do) actually broadcast your lack of knowledge on automotive performance.

My recommendation? Take some time to read/learn more about vehicle dynamics before posting, you'll save consternation in the near future.

I know I'm being pretentious, it's just your latest questioning of the SF90 over the Pista is ludicrous, to say the least.

Don't take my word for it, there are official lap independent records on many tracks.

Anglessy, Autocar, Mortefontaine, Top Gear, Vairano, Zhezhiang. Check it out yourself and see if I'm lying.

Not one has the Pista 'best' the SF90 as you speculate.

So either there is a conspiracy (in vogue these days), or some kid on the net' has the truth.

I'm open-minded, what can I say? I'll leave the door open you know more than the industry. I've been surprised many times before and had to eat crow, so I don't know, maybe this is yet another time.

Good point, though I always ask folks, what SUV looks better than this? I get if someone will dismiss SUVs entirely; I mean, I meet folks who never take a station wagon seriously. Some folks still hate the FF/Lusso on this very forum.

Well said, my friend, and as @Caeruleus11, I'm biased - guilty as charged. I'm a guy that has way too much time on his hands on a Ferrari enthusiast forum. Are people that come here to talk to me expecting something else? Or that I (as many here) so ready to eat their own and 'hate' Ferrari?

Guess I'm just confused, as I simply point out this fact:

None of us SUV fan cohorts claim this is the best car of all time, the fastest or prettiest Ferrari ever.

I do read a lot that this is the doom of Ferrari (when its order books are supposedly closed), questioning its performance (when no track stats are released), and the ugliest (yet I have yet to hear of an alternative SUV that is prettier.)

Yet, we're the ones that suffer from "red mist"?

Projection is so funny when witnessed.

Is it an SUV? Many claim it isn't. I'm not so sure it is myself. Maybe a crossover? IMO an SUV has to have towing capabilities.

I've always thought the FF was one of the ugliest cars Ferrari ever made. IMO it was just a giant, uninspired blob, although it does drive incredible. I do love a good station wagon though. :)

I mean what is purity? To me, the answer has to be one word: self referential yeah?

    speed.

Then I rank all current models by their average lap times and compare then to their contemporaries. Anything below the up coming PS stats, less pure, and above? More.

    done.

why would I claim The PS is more pure then a SF90? That would be silly of me. But if this car beats say a pure sports car like a Z around any track, what do you want me to say? You beat me, but you’re less pure, so there!!

    lol

Nothing wrong with that brother, what looks good and bad is up to the individual. No right or wrong there. As far as an SUV that looks nicer then this, what say you? me personally? I can’t think of another one, maybe the decades old G wagon design ironically enough? Which many derided as a boxy plain Jane, until it was decided by the masses as now cool.

Well, what defines a car as an actual "sports" car or not is its performance, right? I'll go even as far as say, not even numbers, but driving dynamics, like a Miata, is relatively slow, but it's definitely a sports car.

If the PS drives poorly on track, I will have to concede and admit - yes, Ferrari has lost its way.

    Consider this:

I hate SUVs (everything they represent is unnecessary), and asking me to review this is like asking a restaurant critic that declares they hate Japanese food to review a sushi restaurant.

I mean from in here, I have no idea really that I'm in a massive SUV....what human beings can do to the laws of physics.... it's bonkers - Flipping wow, what a piece of kit, what it will do, jeepers I'm impressed, damn impressed.
    -Chris Harris

Okay, purists, tell me why you out 'pure' Harris? I guess I'm just one of those weirdos that judge a car's capabilities not by how it looks but by what track time it can hit, or at the very least, swing out its tail on track. Yeah, such a radical notion, huh?

I'm not ashamed to admit that Harris has far more experience with pure sports cars than I do. Curious which naysayers here can out-bonafide Harris? Please provide your background, credentials, and reviewer experience.

    Step on up.

Great video. I'm a big fan of his. Interesting take.

I suppose if someone's idea of a good SUV is just carrying people and going fast these models are perfect. More power to them. I however have much different needs/tastes. If I want performance or sport I'd use a truck to pull a trailer with my track car. Then I could also pull my boat, haul sheets of drywall and steel, haul my kids and all their sports gear covered in mud, do long road trips in comfort then throw it in 4x4 and take the forest service roads to flyfish trout streams, or drive it deep into Big Cypress to photograph panthers. :)
