Wow, making a lot of assumptions, and seem to be getting a bit personal and aggressive there.

But sorry "my friend" , after you're G65 comments, i can't take anything you say seriously anymore, especially now that you are trying to school me on vehicle dynamics. :)

PS, I know fine and well that the SF90 has been around a second quicker during most tests, but i also know the SF90 runs on the newer 2021 Cup 2 R, which is faster and more consistent than the previous gen R's ,by a margin which the Pista used.

PPS, Enjoy in good health you're PS when it arrives. And if you ever find yourself in Europe during a summer, give me shout and i will invite you to one of the trackdays at Spa or the Ring or one of the endless amount in the UK i do, and lets see who has more learning to do on "vehicle dynamics".

A Porsche Cayenne GT can tow 7,000 pounds and hit the Ring' at 7 minutes and some change.
    But I digress

Let's take things one step at a time. At first, folks were critiquing the performance cred of this car, which now seems squashed, so now you're bringing up another element. You're challenging now the off-road capabilities of the PS as insufficient.

Truth? I don't know; the car is not out yet; as I said, I don't lay prejudice on vehicles that I have no information. Maybe you're right? The moment this car touches dirt, it will melt. Funny, that doesn't seem to be the case with the FF/GTC4Lusso - but hey, as I said, maybe you're right.

The Panamera has entered grueling off-road competitions, but that's Porsche.

Are PS owners trekking through the Serengeti or Dakar? Let's not kid ourselves; this is more likely to be driven to the Ritz Carlton than Rita Island.

Let's take that same spirit of honesty; Most SUVs owners aren't embarking on safaris either.

We know why folks buy SUVs:
    • Vantage point/line of sight
    • All-weather capability (especially in the snow)
    • More space than a sedan
    • More compliant ride

Issue with AWD? (FF sucks, along with any AWD 911? Poseur wannabe sports cars, I guess)
Issue with more space? (250 GT/E only the MR 911 is 'pure', backseat in a 911? Makes em' impure.)
Issue with a more compliant ride? (every Ferrari with adjustable shocks is milquetoast fakery)

So is the whinge that you think a car with high visibility is the anathema to Ferrari? That's the purity crux? Okay.

Why so mad? You're here expressing your opinion, as am I.

If you think my replies are too harsh for your eyes, you have the option of ignoring me*. Or better yet, give me a valid rebuttal. If you don't want to be my friend, that's fine too.

Simply implying I'm mean doesn't cut it in the real world, or laying out your opinions without substantiation. (like the SF90 is slower than the Pista...but provides no actual track times as I have.)

*You always have the option of reporting me to the mods to review if I crossed any lines with a 'personal attack.'

I've been called naive, stupid, and lacking in critical thinking skills on this thread - it doesn't bother me; what can I say? I have tough skin, and besides, I know the moment a person starts insulting me (instead of my arguments), it shows they've lost.

I think I just figured out my love hate relationship with this car. I don’t love it, I dont hate it. But at this time I have no interest in buying one.

When I test drove an 812, I did not love it. Yes I know I’m one of the weird ones who didn’t love the b12 Ferrari. It was just too damn heavy and big. Power was great but it wasn’t neck snapping great.

And yet here we have the Purosangue at almost 5000 pounds with roughly the same hp as the Pista. Between 1500-2000 pounds more. Will it be fast? Yes. But will it be Pista fast? Nope. Will it be nimble- yes. But will it be Pista nimble? Nope.

Im not expecting Pista like performance and handling. If I did, I’d drive my Pista. But I do expect to get a a 4 door car and have some utility - and to me this has some utility but not super practical.

So it’s a nice car but I’m not quite sure the niche it fills. At the end of the day, I prefer my v8 mid engine cars and frankly I’d be happy to pick one of these up in a few years at a nice discount but I’m in no rush to drop 5 bills on one right now.

Oh and the wheel gaps suck!

Well said sir! This is spot on! I completely agree with you that your Pista is more 'pure' than many other Ferrari. Does that make the other Ferrari not 'pure' and will spell the doom of Ferrari? Heck, let's not just stop at the 812 - the Roma compared to the Pista?

That's what I'm trying to say to many here, and you get it. I know this is presumptuous of me, but I find the actual owners of these cars totally understand what I'm saying. I should take advice from my friends, just assume most folks on the net' are mindless bots regurgitating their programming. No use in trying to educate anyone that doesn't have a growth mindset.

I'm not critiquing the performance of the car at all. In fact, I'm sure it will be phenomenal. I'm just stating it clearly isn't built for someone like me who uses my truck as tool and not as a status symbol. because this model is clearly just a status symbol, which is also fine.

To be perfectly blunt about this topic let me use this analogy:

My daughter, whom I have loved dearly my entire life, decides one day to "supplement" her already stellar career by being a whore. Afterall, who can deny all the additional profit this will bring in? It will even expand her client base and add to her success! Now she can be the absolute prettiest whore, the best performing whore, the greatest whore to have ever whored BUT at the end of the day she is still just a whore. :)

That IMHO is what Ferrari just did with the Purosangue. They whored themselves out to increase their bottomline without considering what it might do to their soul in the long run. For me it's that simple , right or wrong. Just like if it was my daughter, I'd still love her but I would honestly never look at her or respect her the same.

    The Whorosangue! ;)

I think you don't understand that Ferrari is a business. A public at one at that. Your daughter analogy would be spot on if Ferrari were a non-profit whose sole purpose was to make only the most extreme sports cars.

The Dino hated for the same exact reasons you imply. (until it's the darling we see today)

As far as your truck element, sure, I get what you're saying. You only accept 'pure' utility vehicles, say a Land Cruiser or an F150. Anything short of that is bogus.

You believe every functional element of hard-core trucks should remain mutually exclusive from a 'sports' car. That's the key differentiator between our different points of view. I don't, as long as that 'compromise' doesn't lower the PS's performance to that of a typical car. I mean, do you think folks really plan to use this to build a house?

I mean, I guess everyone has their lines. Some hate the Roma/Portofino for the same reason. I don't. I'm just not the type of guy that only accepts the FXX or Challenge cars as the only legitimate Ferrari, hell - let me go one step further - only their latest F1 cars. Their vintage cars? vis-a-vis performance? - holy smokes.

What can I say? As the owner of several non-Formula 1(SF-75) prancing horses, I just try to stay consistent if I'm going to flash my 'purity' cred.

Peace offering. Truth of the matter? Many folks are laughing at this right now. There are folks in this forum that are *real* racers. I can’t F with them. I’ve learned early on to not to claim X car is not “pure” enough until I’m hitting the track every week in my “pure” sports car. Hope this makes sense.

    cheers and kind regards.

Yea, you've got the point. We can criticize Ferrari strategy from our point of view, but not the people who actually WANT that car.

Ferrari saw the money literally lying on the streets, the potential of the SUVs market, and simply took the opportunity.

Only the use of V12 (which could be better utilized not in a SUV) and talking about 'exclusivity' (not more than 20% of total yearly production) seems a bit pretentious to me.
Design? - Is 'pretty good', but not 'that good'. Anyway, it's much better than the direct competitors.

Well to be fair being a whore is a business. :)

Seriously, I understand why they are doing it. It’s an easy money grab, why leave money on the table? I can understand it and still not like it though.

You can call it being a purist if you like but I don’t consider myself one. Lol, I’ve done lots of things to Ferraris that would make true purists cry I suppose. Maybe I’m a traditionalist? Or maybe just a realist? I don’t know.

Hell, in 50 years maybe I’ll be eating crow like the Dino naysayers as you mentioned. Anything is possible.

That might be the best view of the Puro I've seen! [emoji2]

Didn't see ground clearance in the comparison Mario posted.

    Image Unavailable, Please Login

If my math is correct, 7" for Puro and 8.5" for the Porsche Pepper.

For comparison, 6" or 150 mm ground clearance for my first gen Cali. I'm guessing even lower for the mid engine V8s.

    Well said.

I believe it's uncouth to call out a person that buys any Ferrari here as impure because of the model they choose.

I believe the proper thing to do is say congratulations.

    I'm a bit old-fashioned, I guess.

Yeah, if you're selling your body. Sure. When the folks at Maranello are literally giving folks BJs, yeah we'll agree.
Oh for sure, I'm not the thought police, this is all fun banter, I'm glad we live in a place where everybody has the right to speak their mind. I would NEVER force you to like this. That's a 'true' sin.
I hear you, I'm just saying in the Ferrari world that *thing* you're trying to preserve is gone. It's been gone, it's past Pluto at this point.
    You don't have to wait.

    hell hath already frozen over.
